Star Light Cabanas & Restaurant

Beautiful cabanas only 5 minutes walk from the beach. Dinesha and Chandana are sooo kind and lovely! Amazing experience ❤️

Perfect location close to the beach and lovely cabanas.

I liked everything.

We loved our stay at Star Light! It’s located close to the beach but also in the midst of nature so you get both experiences. Our little Cabana had everything we needed, you can rent a scooter or tuk tuk, and the breakfast was phenomenal :)

Really good value for money and close to the beach

My bed was comfortable with nice big pillows, a really good mosquito net and very clean sheets. The lighting was nice (warm and dimmable) with a handy bedside lamp you could turn off before sleep. The fan was new and worked well when placed near to the bed, with a range of useful settings. Overall the room was clean. It was also nice to have a terrace with deckchairs and hammock, though I wasn’t able to use them (see below for why). Mango juice and veg omelette was good at the restaurant. Didn’t try anything else. Son(?) of the family offered a taxi to my next place at a good price, although I had a slightly cheaper one already booked, and I was able to check out at 10:30 instead of 10:00. It was generally nice and quiet (apart from the construction work - see below), and just a 5 minute walk from the beautiful beach, though not an area where it’s safe to swim. Price was excellent.

I scolded myself using the shower because initially it shoots boiling hot water and sprays this boiling hot water everywhere from the joining because the head doesn’t screw properly onto the hose. Bizarrely there were four ways to get water (cold overhead shower head, shower hose with heater and two cold shower taps) but none allowed you to have a warm overhead shower as the fixture for the hose was broken so you had to hold it, and the fixture was at waist height anyway. This would be easy to fix so unsure why it’s left broken like this. Also to improve ventilation and heat, mosquito nets could be added to the inside of the window so that it can be opened from the outside at night to let the cooler air in. It was a great shame that I had to ask the owner(?) to stop the construction work directly behind my cabana at 9:30pm that had be going on all day. The owner didn’t apologise and just said “10 more minutes”. Perhaps time would be better spent fixing the current cabanas before building more…? Lastly, i couldn’t enjoy the terrace because flies landed on my skin literally every few seconds. I’ve stayed in 30+ places in the last four months of travel, including in the middle of jungle, and not experienced this. These are the pest house flies you get where there’s rotting garbage/food nearby that they breed in. Owners need to find the source and sort it out as it’s annoying and unhygienic. As proof, see how many landed on the sheets in the restaurant. I’m still giving it a 7/10 because of the price point and good potential but the above issues need to be addressed.

Everything was perfect. Loved the hamacas, and the family runing it was lovely. Would go back for sure. Very peaceful too.

Very close to the beach, very spacious house , very calm, very clean. Plus each house has a hammock to chill. The hosts are very kind, helpful and flexible. Everything was easy. Also amazing local kitchen. Great food and drink variety for a more than reasonable price. We will come back. 🙏
