Casa Terra Hostel

Really nice hostel, pretty, a very friendly welcome. There's space to put your stuff, and a locker for each guest. Bathrooms and kitchen are clean, they provide soap and change the towels every day. And I loved the atmosphere: it's really small (12 beds in total, I think), so at least when I was there, everyone got to know each other quickly and people hung out together quite a bit, which makes it a great place for solo travellers.

The location isn't perfect. One of the beaches, a supermarket and one or two sodas are nearby, but the 15 minute walk along the road into town can feel very, very long in the heat of the day. (It would be great if they bought a few bikes that guests could rent, maybe better ones and/or for a better price than the bike rentals in the area.) At the same time it didn't really have a strong "in the middle of nature" feel because the main road passes nearby and you can hear it. There were monkeys in the trees around the hostel, though!

Beautiful house a short walk from the beach surrounded by trees. Very private location for people who don’t like to stay directly in town centres. Friendly staff, also has a washing machine that you can use for a small fee which was a great touch for a hostel! Friendly staff, 10/10 recommend

Nothing! Rooms are on the smaller side but makes up for it with a nice shaded area outside with hammocks and comfortable places to sit and relax

All of the volunteers and owners really work hard to create a family atmosphere. I have stayed in over a hundred hostels and Casa Terra definitely stands out. The people I met here truly made my week in Sámara special!!

A very cozy and creative hostel with a warm and welcoming team!

It is slightly outside of town, maybe like a 10 minute walk, but this wasn’t a major issue as there was a variety store and restaurants near by.

Location was great because it's a little off the beaten path and tucked away. I chose this place because I read reviews of other hostels in town where lots of people complained of the constant roar of motorcycles keeping them awake. I chose wisely as this was very quiet and we could leave the windows open for ventilation. Had a couple fans to keep mosquitos away too. Wasn't a party hostel which I am glad about bc I enjoyed getting up super early for the beach. I was really impressed upon arrival to get such a warm welcome with tons of explanation of the property and where to go for groceries. Everyone was friendly, a typical beach hostel vibe where you've got folks hanging out on the hammocks or cooking and folks going out that are happy to invite you along. Beach seemed pretty safe at night and I felt OK walking home in the dark, although I may have been naive about that. Bed was pretty comfy. People were very respectful about bathroom usage, no one hogging facilities. Laundry available too!

Would be cool if there were some signs or notes about what to check out around Samara. I asked around a lot which is fine but wondered if people get tired of talking about the same things all day every day. Wanted to know more about things like locally-owned businesses, snorkeling hours, recommended horseback riding tours, secret hikes, beaches, cool bars, etc. Also make sure to bring your own padlock if you want to secure your stuff in the locker, they don't have any. I thought the guests were pretty trust-worthy but you never know.

The owners & managers are top-shelf people. Very humorous, as well as extremely helpful. Always very nice having a mixed-group of Europeans there as guests to laugh & enjoy the time with. This was my return after staying here last year, what a great place! Love to Cha & bebé, Luis, Andre, and even more so, to the tireless volunteers, Carolina & Constance! I’ll be back..:-)))
