Great vibe and very friendly staff! The owners of the hostel help you with everything and create a very warm atmosphere. The hostel has a very authentic and unique environment and during the day you can spot a lot of wild animals while chilling in the hammock. Although it's outside the village, you have a supermarket just 3 min away and the beach 7 min by walking. I enjoyed my stay a lot and recommend the hostel for everyone, who is looking for a relaxing stay in a familiar environment close to the nature!

"Little paradisiac home in Samara"

10.0

Everything ! Coming there I thought the past reviews were too good to be true...but no it is really so good ! The hostel feels like home, everything is clean, comfortable, practical. The location is just superb as well , a little paradise. Only 10min from the center and not even 5 from the beach. The owners and the volunteers are amazing people. I truly had the best resting, nature-wise, connecting and social time there. (And the beds are really comfy too ^^). Love the energy of the place, it will stay my favourite hostel in Costa Rica (I actually extended my stay for 2 days to 8 there and was a struggle to leave haha). Thanks Casa Terra for this great time with you !

I've stayed at Casa Terra for almost 4 weeks because I went to Intercultura Language School nearby to learn Spanish. I felt very comfortable and at home at Casa Terra. It was always very clean. Also, I enjoyed being surrounded by nature and since it was not on the main road, it was really quiet at night. The walk to the beach is about 8 minutes, the walk downtown around 15 minutes. The volunteers Constance and Carolina as well as the owners were always happy to help with questions and organizing tours and often hung out with us at the hostel. I can fully recommend staying there.

This cozy little hostel let us feel at home as soon as we walked in. Everything is very thoughtful created, designed and well equipped. The 3 owners and the volunteers are very warm hearted and try everything they can to make the stay unforgettable.

"Amazing awesome place in nature with wonderful staff!"

10.0

I loved staying at Casa Terra so much that I extended my stay, despite a packed schedule! Where to start? So, I usually do not stay at hostels. I am a light sleeper and I go to bed early. I also like clean bathrooms, so sharing them can be difficult. However, I took a chance with Casa Terra and I am so glad! This was the perfect hostel for me. Not a party hostel, rather a peaceful, calm, loving, natural home. They keep it very clean, and I appreciate that no shoes are allowed upstairs. They allowed me to leave my huge main suitcase downstairs in tucked away spot. I love that my carry-on bags fit beneath my bed (to keep my bags from taking up floor space), and under the bed, the floor was clean. The showers do not have hot water, but you do not need a hot shower here! The cool showers were refreshing and felt wonderful. The beautiful setting in nature, the very comfortable common areas (hammock, day beds, etc), the peaceful joy of just hanging around the hostel itself, meant that my time at the hostel was an even more enjoyable a part of my trip as the beach and Sámara town itself. I met some really lovely fellow travelers at Casa Terra. And the staff!!! Energetic healer Constance, enthusiastic Andre, resident artist Carolina, and of course we cannot forget the feline house protector Benito! I felt so welcome and loved. It was the perfect transition into Pura Vida living before I headed into a remote eco-village. My favorite Sámara beach is very close by, and there is a man there who rents out snorkeling equipment for $5 and you can see so many fish and eels and cool things in the rocky tide pool area. The grocery store that is so close by is open late, which is great for picking up food at the end of the day. It has healthy food options that I appreciate. There are plenty of great inexpensive sodas nearby, I ate wonderfully while in Sámara. I appreciate the shared refrigerator and the labeling of our foods.

Nothing, it was perfect! Hmmm well sometimes I think more than one person wanted to lie in the main hammock, but that led to an exercise / practice of grace and sharing. But maybe another hammock near the front common area? Not sure where to put it. Hmmm maybe it would be nice for each bed to have its own fan. One fan was shared between two beds which meant only half the time it was directed at your body 😂

"Nice little hostel"

7.0

Nice and quiet location, very friendly and helpful staff and not a very big place, which meant not many people. Outside space is nice and comfy. Good vibes.

You have to pay for towels. Rooms are tiny and not much room to put your stuff. Bunk beds move when you turn.
