"Must stop along Route 66"

10.0

We loved our stay at the Blue Swallow. Robert is the best host - provides coffee, snacks, and a quick tour at check in. The rooms were clean and quaint. It was so nice to sit out front and meet the other guests.

"A must-have experience when driving Route 66"

10.0

The owners, Rob and Dawn, are preserving this 1940's motel on Route 66 in the best possible way. Each guest is taken to their motel room (with private adjacent garage) by the owner. The history of the hotel and information about the contents of the room ( mostly original) are shared with enthusiasm and respect. Modern amenities blend in to offer an extremely pleasant stay.

"Worth the stop"

10.0

Great motel with wonderful hosts! We had a long drive from Dallas and wanted to stop for the night. My husband found this hotel online and called to see if a room was available for the night. Once we arrived, we were greated by Rob. He shared with us the history of the motel and walked us to our room. The owners have done a great job of keeping the 1940s feel to the motel - inside and out. Very basic accommodations but a great Route 66 stop.

"FUN AND NOSTALGIC MOTEL! A MUST SEE - Especially the neon lights at night!"

8.0

We decided to stay here based on great reviews on TripAdvisor and other articles. It's a great HISTORIC and quaint / vintage motel on historic Route 66 offering a lot of nostalgia and many original features giving the hotel a shabby chic / neon experience. We were a little put off upon our arrival by the rudeness of the owner, Dawn. We parked in front of our room as we did not have a garage or an assigned parking spot. She came rushing over to us in a huff and rudely said "can I help you?" We asked about parking and she curtly said "well, first of all, this is not how we park here and not all rooms have a garage; so move your car parallel to the office and wait to register as we don't open for 10 more minutes!" We were so stunned by her rudeness and unwelcome attitude . The saving grace was her very friendly and hospitable husband, Robert. He must have heard or sensed her rudeness and came out to diffuse the conversation. Robert invited us into the office, checked us in and gave us the grand tour and history of the motel and town. The rooms are small but very clean and quiet. They have a small common area with a refrigerator , microwave and ice machine for guests and also a washer and dryer . This motel is very popular with people passing through to see vintage neon signs and cars and to take photos. The town itself does not have a lot To offer and is quite run down. Visitors and locals are friendly.

"Vintage motel with character."

10.0

I have stayed here three times in the past few years. Vintage 1939, each time in Room 1. Owner ron is great fun to chat with in the lobby. I highly recommend.

"5 Stars, A+, Memory maker"

10.0

So WONDERFUL! 66 year old traveler on Route 66. The Blue Swallow Motel is absolutely wonderful. So clean, so pretty, so historic, so comfortable. I lived it up in the Suite, and it was so precious. You will not be disappointed; I promise. Fair price, Beautiful quiet, convenient. Thank you for this experience. Hugs from LTC Jake Linehan

"When on Route 66, stay at the Blue Swallow"

10.0

If you’re traveling Route 66, definitely stay overnight at the Blue Swallow. It is a vintage motel that is well maintained, comfortable, and clean. Robert and Dawn are excellent hosts! Robert also makes a VERY GOOD cup of coffee. I cannot say enough good things about their hospitality.

"Not worth it for a paid 'Tour' of the Motel."

2.0

We didn't stay here, but paid for a 'Tour of the Motel' today. It was a stop off on a guided tour of Route 66. So the 'tour' took approximately ten minutes. He took us to a fountain which was not working and had no water in it, and then to one double room attatched to another. It looked like my Granddad's house. That was the sum and total of what we saw for a fee. I can't recommend this for a tour, and personally, I wouldn't want to stay here.
