GreenPoint Drake Bay

Juan Carlos and his family have built a magical place sloping down into the jungle. Your handmade cabina is clean and comfortable with a private balcony that overlooks a forest teaming with nature. The dining area overlooks the forests and has bamboo stands where Juan Carlos puts left over fruit each day attracting Capuchins, Toucan, Squirrel monkeys and several types of birds in my short time there. Juan Carlos used to be a professional chef and offers free breakfast (airy pancake with fruqits) and for $14 a resort grade two course meal. Everyone is friendly and Juan Carlos helped me book an excellent snorkeling tour. It is very affordable for a peaceful experience and is off the track of some of the party oriented hostels. I stayed 3 nights and Juan Carlos let me store my bag for a fourth when I went to Corcovado. At the bottom of the hill near the pirate hotel you can find a very secluded section of beach

For me I love to walk rural roads and loved the experience if being followed by toucan and other birds for 45 min. (4 km to Drake beach).But if this is not your speed you should have a car or pay $10 each way for a taxi Juan Carlos can arrange. Wifi is good enough for planning trips but I would not work there.

What a little gem 💎 We stayed here for 3 nights with our 2 children and had the best time. The owners are so attentive with great communication. We ate some lovely food prepared by the owner 😋 Its right in the heart of the jungle, we saw lots of wildlife. We also did a night tour with the owner around the property and saw lots of wildlife. Just to mention we drove to Drake, roads in are a little precarious at times, there are many potholes full of water so you don't know how deep they are, but with a 4x4 it can be done.

The lodges were very open to the outdoors, which was very nice. The owner was nice and speaks some English.

The road in is a disaster, and I had a strange interaction with his neighbor. The guy down the road from Green point stopped me in my car and I asked him where Green point was and he told me. I only speak a little Spanish, but I think he said that if I was going to drive on the (public) road to Drake Bay, I needed to pay him. I left and nothing bad happened, but it was a little unnerving. Not that the owner can do anything about his neighbor, but it may be good to be aware of especially for a solo car traveler.

Excepcional ! Everything was perfect. Juan Carlos and his family are incredibly hospitable and made the stay one of the best we’ve had in our lives. Amazing location in the middle of the jungle surrounded by monkeys, birds and snakes. Delicious breakfast every morning with the sounds of the forest and perfectly clean and comfortable cabins. We really recommend to go out of your way to come here. 10/10

Small place around 3km from Drakes Bay past the airport. Juan Carlos and his wife have built and run the place which is nestled in the forest. A family of Howler monkeys live close by and there’s lots of other wildlife on the doorstep. Facilities are very basic but clean and safe. Food is excellent and Juan Carlos will prepare pretty much anything for you. It’s possible to hitch a ride to Drakes Bay, walk for 50mins or take a taxi. Cost of rooms is very reasonable. Night hike is a walk around the grounds, so not particularly informative or educational. The dogs can be a bit of a pain, any approach to the house is greeted by aggressive barking if the family is out.

Great experience in the middle of the jungle far from... anything! The cabins are very simple so it's as authentic as it may be. Recommended are ear plugs in case it rains (very loud) or even for the nightlife (much more acceptable). Also, a car is probably necessary as it's a few Kms away from the city. Coming by car, even with a small car, is actually easy in any season.

Nothing in particular but you shall come prepared, materially and mentally: with a car and with the understanding that you gonna sleep in the jungle in something simple with all what that implies

Everything was perfect. Localisation in stunning forest with wild animals. During really tasty breakfast we could observe tropical birds and monkeys jumping on trees. Host was super helpful with arranging trips and answer all the questions.

Bliss! Paradise ! Such welcoming host- wonderful jungle location and dining and living area- accommodation lovingly designed and built . Amazing views and wildlife- really got to appreciate. Host trained as a chef and served up wonderful meals! Place has a good collection of books on Costa Rica and wildlife. Host booked up brilliant tours and helped to plan adventures elsewhere.We only booked one night but ended up staying there for 4! Bahia Drake rocks- fantastic experience !

Nothing - need to immerse yourself and embrace the experience of simple living
