Toad Hall Hostel

Lovely laid back hostel: an ideal place for meeting other walkers and cyclists.The small kitchen had all the equipment that we needed to cook, and the shop attached to the nearby petrol station would have had adequate ingredients if we hadn't brought our own.

For our stay it was fine, but there is only one bathroom ( and no separate loo) so you do have to liaise with other guests over shower times.

Location close to railway station. Hot water in the shower.

The place was worn down, and the whole place had a bad smell. This was not a hotell but an old hostel. It was too expensive for what we payed for. Should never have been available by booking.com. We met nobody responsible during our stay. Nobody to communicate with.

Convenient location

The room was clean and covered the basic needs, but it didn’t feel very cosy. Unfortunately, the shower didn’t work properly, there was no hot water, and the basin drained poorly. Because of this, I probably wouldn’t use it again.

Lovely comfortable room and relaxing stay. Full facilities in kitchen. Everything you need. Shop nearby to buy food.

Looks slightly run down from outside and steps steep to entrance, however it's charm, character and views were fabulous. Couple who run it were lovely. Very reasonably priced.

Sitting area not welcoming so stayed in my room. No drying room.

An honest opinion as is a very old style

Basic, comfortable, flexible check in without having to meet the owner. Ideal for the hiker, explorer, mountain biker etc. it has everything you need: your own room with key, sockets for recharging tech, shower/toilet, good WiFi, kitchen with fridge

One toilet, when the place is busy you have to time your toilet/shower trip
