Jawai Bagpackers Hostel

Jawai Hostel is simple but clean and the perfect place to stay for an affordable safari in Jawai. We did see a leopard after both a morning and evening safari. Even without a leopard sighting the safari is well worth your time. The landscape is beautiful and unique, there are many birds, and the 4x4 experience to see the sights is awesome.

Nice hostel setup with bunk beds and a room separately for those interested in that. It's among the cheapest facilities at Jawai I think but there's no compromise in service be it the cleanliness, courteousness and quality of food. The food is simple but flavourful and tasty. Do order the buttermilk. It's simple but amongst the best I've had.

One of the bunk beds used was a little rickety and made sleeping soundly a challenge there. There seems to be a error in listings too. While booking, you're given the option of multiple villas at different prices, bunk beds separately and so on. The entire property though is just the one villa with bunk beds and a room inside.

The property was clean, very comfortable and perfect for what I needed. Gaurav was the best host and guide throughout my stay. He went above and beyond to show me around the local area and support me to do a leopard safari. He also has great recommendations for restaurants in the local area. I felt very safe as a solo female traveller!

The room is nice and the owner was accommodating and tried hard to assist us, taking us to the restaurant for lunch. I would really recommend as I don’t think you could do a safari this cheap and you do get special treatment in the fact you stay later than everyone else. We saw two leopards which was amazing !!

Firstly, the private villa is not a private villa as you get a room but both the owner and safari driver sleep on the bunk beds outside (they explained this is because the safari starts very early but they shouldn’t advertise it as a private villa and also I think it was very overpriced. Also, the shower didn’t work! I was called so many times before our stay to pester us to do the safari and told I must give him a 10 rating after. The second safari was a bit disappointing as we saw beautiful scenery but our prime purpose was to see the leopards and it was clear that we weren’t going to and they weren’t even I’m looking for them.

A great place to stay to do a safari at Jawai national park without breaking the bank. This safari is highly underrated and was a beautiful way to experience North West India’s wildlife and Nature.

We stayed in double room which was spacious and had own bathroom. Our host Guarav was keen to make sure we had a great experience in all ways. He accompanied us on a leopard safari - our young driver Uday was fantastic and very personable - and we saw two leopards, not close up but it was exciting to see and fun to bomb around in the jeep. We were served delicious home made meals also. The following day Guarav showed us around a local market and then took us into the countryside to show us how the villagers live and we met some fantastically friendly people. it was a wonderful experience and the landscape was beautiful and calming….a bird watchers haven also.

You walk straight into a dormitory area and then our room was off there, felt a little bit snug but Guarav had created a lovely area at the back of the property that you could sit out in the evening. Shower did not work - plenty of hot water though and washing in the traditional way with the bucket and jig gave us a more authentic experience.

Gaurab was an excellent person with great assistance. Safari to see leopards and their habitat was very fun, satisfying and interesting. He really took care of a great stay.
