Panhou Retreat

I recommend going trekking while you're here. It's a fantastic experience, traversing trails, lush vegetation, and terraced rice fields. I even saw buffalo climbing the hills, then and dinner with the locals, and the evening we drank some wine (although I can't handle much), but it was really fun.

Initially, I was quite apprehensive about visiting a remote mountainous region of Vietnam with very few tourists. But once I arrived, it was a completely different experience. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, and they even offered vegetarian options. If I ever return to Vietnam, I will definitely come back to Panhou.

It was very interesting! I got to taste wild vegetables I'd never seen before in my life; they were very unique and fresh. However, the breakfast had a limited selection for vegetarians like me. I hope they have more options for cereals or tropical fruits..

The traditional herbal bath therapy is a 'must-try'. It helped my muscles recover completely after a long day of walking. The spa space is very rustic and authentically local. My only regret is the language barrier, which made it difficult for me to learn more about the benefits of the herbs from the staff.

Our group was traveling in Ha Giang and was recommended to Panhou, and it became our favorite stop. Evenings were filled with laughter around the campfire, and mornings started with coffee and mountain mist. It's a place that reminds you how simple joy can be..

The trekking routes here are truly challenging, but the scenery is unbelievable. The local guides know every trail, every type of tree, every animal. A small note: prepare a good pair of shoes because the mud here is no joke, especially after the rain. But I think you should definitely go trekking in Hoan Su Phi.

I appreciate their commitment to limiting plastic and respecting the environment. Listening to the sound of flowing water and chirping insects is a luxury I never had in London. The downside is that because it's so natural, you might occasionally have some insect friends visiting your room. Get used to it!

My partner and I came to Panhou seeking tranquility - and found more than that. We spent the mornings walking through the grounds, which looked like a miniature forest. The cocktails were also unique, made with local spirits and fruits. We arrived during a rather cold winter, but sitting by the wood-fired stove in the restaurant or bar was very warm.

The guided mountain hike was interesting and felt very safe. The scenery along the trail was beautiful and quiet. It would be even better with more short routes for beginners.
