HIDE ELLA Hotel & Resort

We stayed 4 nights in Ella and this was the perfect spot for us. The views are amazing and location, 10 min walk to main road, it’s great as it’s a little more quiet and we didn’t mind walking up (a bit of a steep hill but wasn’t a problem for us). We preferred the tranquility and amazing views. Staff very helpful and friendly. We didn’t eat at the restaurant as we preferred to explore the town, only breakfast which was good. They left us a cake in our room as this was our honeymoon!! I rated it a bit Lower as details in the rooms appear at bit outdated despite being a new hotel and overall I think they need to pay more attention to cleanliness and maintenance.

Insanely overpriced and environment issues!!! We spent two days at the Hide Ella Hotel and I’m honestly ashamed to have paid so much money for this place. This wasn’t because of the staff—they were always friendly—but rather due to the management. We had booked a room with a mountain view, and while there was indeed a view, it also included a sign from the neighboring hotel highlighting the lack of a proper sewage system at Hide Ella. According to the sign (and another one-star review from a local), the hotel discharges all of its wastewater directly into the local drinking water system on a daily basis (see photo). Had we known this beforehand, we would have never booked this hotel. We would have stayed at the one next door instead—cheaper, more charming, and offering free yoga sessions (we know because we attended one class for an additional fee for walk-ins). For the price (300€ per night!!!), the room still had mold in the bathroom and exposed electrical wires. In my opinion, this is nowhere near a four-star hotel standard. Due to the rainy season, we wanted to use the spa—but that was a disappointment as well. The entire area was uncomfortable, poorly lit, and the sauna shut off automatically after just 12 minutes (you had to turn it on about three times before it was even close to warm, and it was just a basic infrared sauna designed for home use). We didn’t try the steam room, and the jacuzzi was covered. A staff member noticed us in the spa and silently opened the jacuzzi cover, but didn’t turn it on. We had a look ourselves and the awful smell explained why. For non-hotel guests, an absurdly high fee is charged for this spa experience. Overall, the hotel felt empty—except for a few Instagram bloggers seemingly there just to take pictures. A hotel with no soul. We can’t comment on the food because we chose not to eat there. We didn’t want to support the hotel any further given the sewage situation.

Absolutely incredible! This is a quiet peaceful hotel with mesmerising views. The team were so accommodating and went above and beyond.

Absolutely out of this world as regards the view from the rooms and restaurant!! The staff are very friendly and the food was good. Communication could be better. Housekeeping needs to check the shower dispensers to make sure that they work.

There was quite a lot of mold in the bathroom. Sometimes empty glasses were left on tables for a long time.
