The Ark Comforts

Ark Comforts is an oasis in south Goa, with very friendly staff who go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed (by for example ensuring fresh mangoes were available at our last breakfast as they had learned we loved that - thanks Chaudry!). Can recommend having grilled fish for dinner on the (private!) beach, and don't hesitate to participate in karaoke accompanied by live music!

Dolphin boat tour was quite pricey for just 1h (but breakfast served while onboard was excellent!)

Service was great and staff very friendly and do their best. Especially warm regards to Chandru who did his very best with his jokes and catering to any of our needs. Location on the beach perfect, nice to wake up with the view of the ocean. Close by Palolem, small village you can walk to in 5 min

Quite overpriced, more expensive than some 5 star hotels with a beach but not a 5 star level hotel. Although a premium is to be paid for the location, nevertheless would expect improvements in quality of breakfast/restaurant and rooms. Breakfast is quite basic, we only ate there once and then went to other places although breakfast was included in the stay. Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable, but furniture is basic, electrical outlets do not work as the chargers keep falling out, front door couldn't properly close or lock, bathtub rusted, furniture on patio old/damaged. Again, not expecting a luxorious hotel but with small changes value for money would improve. Worst part though is that we were kept awake each night by barking and fighting dogs on the beach. We barely slept during our stay as a result. Because of this 5 star rating, otherwise 7,5 would be a fair rating.

The beach is incredible! Our room was amazing, stunning big terrace but it is expensive, and whilst beds are so comfortable we didn’t sleep that well as it is quite loud - we could hear the kitchen staff and often had cats or something climbing on our roof waking us up. He room was luxurious, for palolem particularly. We loved it! The pool is tiny but ticks a box if you need one. We didn’t use it as the beach is lovely swimming. Staff are so lovely! We would have loved to stay longer, a great find. Thank you!

Breakfast is very poor.

The Ark Comforts is a little bit of paradise. Within one day we extended our trip from 4 nights to 7. The location at far end of Palolem beach is separated by a small rocky headland that creates the feel of a private beach, without people selling and hassling. We started every day with short 10 step stroll from bed to the waves for a swim. Lush. The walk to main Palolem beach for restaurants and stuff is very low effort 3 mins over a path. The staff at Ark were super helpful from before arrival organising taxi straight from airport to the hotel, helping us continuously through our stay. The rooms are boutique luxurious, beds excellent and bathrooms beautifully designed. The pool is great, kids loved having as well as the sea. A little corner of lush paradise in beautiful goa, including sunsets every day

Loved the place. One suggestion is the breakfast restaurant was close and fine, nice helpful staff, but they could make a bit more of a creative spread of food, including fruit, nuts, seeds, yoghurt, etc. Grew samey after few days and we ate breakfast at restaurant along the beach for more variety

The Ark Comforts: This place is incredible, but I’m a bit torn with this review. We narrowed down 50 hotels down to one, and we chose ‘The Ark Comforts’. We are so pleased we did. It is located in the most perfect spot on Palolem beach, tucked away in a cove with a private beach setting. ‘The Ark Comforts’ has customers come and stay as short as 1 night just to experience what they have here, a special place, vibe and ambience. What you pay for is the view. The view is breathtaking. You wake up in paradise. I literally can’t describe it any other way. The rooms are very well equipped with pretty much everything you need, as expected. A good size depending on which ‘comfort’ you book. The beds and mattresses are very comfortable. The bathroom is a good size with all toiletries supplied. The staff here work super hard, long hours. Super friendly and willing to do anything for you. They keep the area nice, neat clean and tidy making the experience more enjoyable. The restaurant has a good variety of food on their menu at reasonable prices too. Happy hour is great from 3pm to 6pm. ‘The Ark Comforts’ has a complete package to enjoy your stay in Goa. I would say probably the best place to stay in Palolem, however all the above comes with a big BUT… We stayed in 3 Hotels in 2 weeks all 5 star. Would I constitute ‘The Ark Comforts’ as 5 star? No, unfortunately.

What they could do better? - When we arrived there was no one to check us in. It was all dark, lights off and no one to welcome us. 5 star hotels have 24 Hour receptions. We then had to find someone to check us in. - The Security Gentleman helped us out, let us into our room and we checked in the next day. - Breakfast is limited, very limited. The Juice on offer is not cold. I had to ask for ice everyday. The Cereal is stale. The options are not what you expect for 5 star hotels. - I made all 3 hotels we stayed at aware it was our Anniversary. The first 2 hotels, decorated our room, gave us a cake and drinks on the house. ‘The Ark Comforts’ offered a cake at 4000 IDR, personally very over priced. I was given 2 different prices for a Anniversary set-up, first was 6000, then 8000. I was highly disappointed that the prices changed. After considering the menu and seeing the setup in person, again I found this very over priced and cancelled. No where in our stay was our Anniversary acknowledged. Sadly. - We were offered a boat session at 8000 IDR. A nice looking boat but when you consider a traditional boat takes you out on the same waters and shows you the same thing for only 2000IDR, again, it’s very over priced. This boat moved twice in 5 days. - Happy hour is a great feature. If staff walked on the beach to customers, they would take a few more orders - This is 5 star service, not having to go and make your order. - Lastly the catering manager is great. A fantastic worker with great ideas. He needs to be listened to as to how to enhance the ‘The Ark Comforts’. - The Ark comforts has so much potential but no one seems to be stretching these to enhance the stay. - Don’t be surprised whilst having a shower if the electric and lights cut out, leaving you in the dark possibly covered in shower Gel and Shampoo. Apparently a generator is supplied but just not quick enough for a 5 star, I’m afraid. A fantastic stay. A memorable experience, but not 5 star.
