"Not worth the price"

2.0

Dinner at the restaurant was good

We booked the Executive Suite, expecting a high standard, but left feeling underwhelmed. For nearly 600 EUR a night, the room lacked basic amenities—no bedside tables or plugs near the bed, no TV, no slippers, and no bottled water. The overall finish felt quite cheap for the price. The complex is large with many rooms, and each room has external lighting, which created significant light pollution—disappointing for a place marketed as an aurora borealis viewing spot. Additionally, the advertised jacuzzi is shared, not private, and while it’s supposedly reserved for Executive Suite guests, it’s open to other rooms as well. Dinner was enjoyable, but breakfast was very limited, with many items missing and not replenished. This didn’t live up to the quality we expected for such a high price. This property has gained popularity on Instagram for its beautiful aurora borealis photos, but unfortunately, that popularity doesn’t seem to translate into guest satisfaction.

Amazing to stay in an Aurora Hut.

Difficult in getting to senja island and directions are poor, no one really helps. It also meant I couldn't do a half day tour in the morning before my evening flight. The Hut also doesn't have a toilet so you have to run back to the main house

"I should have read google reviews before booking. Hopefully the new managers will turn things around."

I liked our room. Our big windows looked out over woodland. I liked the reception and restaurant area.

People I was travelling with had their windows overlooking other buildings and car parks. The spa was not for all guests to use. The breakfast was great on first day but poor offerings on other days. The exterior lights around property were very bright, I think they should be motion sensitive to reduce light pollution.

It was a nice and sleek design and having a microwave and kettle was helpful. The restaurant area was beautiful and the staff were lovely.

Our room was a bit disappointing as the beds kept separating so we kept nearly falling down the middle, the floors were very dirty, and our view was mostly obstructed by the trees. Definitely don't think it should be the same price as the upstairs rooms. There was no space for luggage. Its also strange that was no light in the kitchen area, just a little floor lamp so you can forget about using the kitchenette at night.

For the first time in Norway, we went to the North of the country to experience the midnight light and the beautiful countryside. We stayed in this accommodation in a family apartment with a bedroom and with a sofa bed in the living room. From here we had a great view through the large windows over the hilly area of this beautiful countryside. In the morning, we enjoyed a very good breakfast that was prepared and presented beautifully. Thanks to the host!

"Amazing stay, and perfect staff !"

10.0

Everything !! We were lucky to be in the executive suite nbr 2 which is the best room of the hotel. We had an amazing view on the forest and the sea, and the hot tub all for ourselves as the other suite was not booked. The suite was huge, well equipped with a coffee machine, plates, cups, and glasses. Tea, coffee, and sugar at disposal. The beds were super comfy and the huge sofa was awesome to wait for the northern lights. The breakfast was delicious and very varied. I got addicted to their waffles. The receptionist was exceptional with us. He helped us with the ferry, explained how it worked, even assisted in planning a back-up itinerary in case we didn’t get it. They also arranged an early breakfast, as we had to leave at 7:30, so they opened the restaurant one hour earlier just for us. We really had an exceptional stay. We’ve read somewhere that the owners have changed and I can vouch that all the previous bad reviews that were written about that place do not reflect the reality now and the amazing experience we had. One thing to be aware of: only the executive suites have access to the hot tub, and only the suite nbr 2 has a view on the forest.
