The hotel was okay. Some parts are very dated, the room we stayed in was basic and the air conditioning did not work. When we addressed this with reception they said they would send someone. It still didn’t get fixed and so we asked for a fan instead. I did see inside another room of another family and it was more modern. The pool area was disappointing. Extremely slippy, multiple children and adults falling daily. Children are not allowed to jump in and out of the pool and very limited beds. We spent our time sat on chairs. There are more beds on the ant infested grass away from the pool but I didn’t fancy that (the hotel has a serious problem with ants!). However, the splash pool for kids was a good size, it was always freezing so our little one didn’t go in much. There is an accessible beach, quite a few stones getting in and out of the water and the beach is thin. It’s fine for what it is, but it’s not a great beach. The hotel entertainment is very poor and was embarrassing to watch. It’s a shame because the entertainment team are part of the kids club and they are all nice. More effort from management is needed to invest in the evening entertainment. The bar staff around the pool are great and work so hard. I did enjoy a massage at the spa and they were respectful and professional. The hotel is situated next to the highway and although this didn’t impact the noise inside the hotel, it isn’t an ideal place for a hotel. This meant that you could not walk out of the hotel to explore another areas or restaurants (as there were none). You can get taxis to the villages either side, however, these are not worth the money the taxis charge. The taxi company charges an extortionate amount for the short trip (€15 each way). They do not put the metre on and only operate with set prices. For the price we paid it wasn’t worth it. The hotel is a 3 star at best. The cost to go away is already very high as a family in the summer, I would recommend searching elsewhere where. Unfortunately we will not be returning to this hotel or the area again.

Great beach and stuff.

The hotel itself was lovely, very clean, and well maintained. The waiters, reception staff, and cleaners were all excellent—friendly, attentive, and a real credit to the hotel. The food was very nice with plenty of traditional Greek options, which we really enjoyed. Unfortunately, the entertainment team really let the experience down. They didn’t engage with guests, often pushed past people in the dining room, and seemed disinterested. The evening entertainment was especially disappointing—just bingo and karaoke most nights, with no real shows or variety. We spoke to other families who also felt the same and said they wouldn’t return because of this. Overall, a lovely hotel with great staff and food, but the poor entertainment means we wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Portes Beach Hotel, Halkidiki We had a pleasant stay in some respects. The hotel is clean, the staff are lovely and welcoming, and the food was good with plenty of variety. However, the rooms are quite small for families of more than three, and the property is starting to look a bit dated, with the last renovation back in 2011. The tiles and grouting are dirty, frames around the windows etc. as in the photo. The beach is ok, however there is no attempt to clean it daily, people are out there to do this but it is contained in the most basic of cleans and takes. Lots of cigarettes, old cups etc around. On the beach in the morning I witnessed a member of staff taking rubbish (paper cups) into a hole in the sand and covering it up! People get up early <7:30 to protect sunbeds and there is no effort from staff to prevent this some protect the beds and then appear mid afternoon, this is more the people but the hotel could discourage this. The biggest concern is the pool area. It is extremely slippery, and every day we saw more than 10 people, both adults and children, falling. Worryingly, during our stay a 5-year-old girl slipped, damaged her teeth and had to be taken to hospital. The tiles are coming off the mosaic floor and wall, they are everywhere. This pool area is a serious safety issue that really needs to be addressed. With some modernisation and urgent improvements (and realistic attention not fobbed off) to pool safety this could be a much better place. We won’t come again it’s max a 3 star, overpriced advertising 4 star.

3 star....no more. Would we go again....no! Stuck in a time warp and well worn/dated. Main dining room being the exception. Property remote. No out of property bars whatsoever. Holiday camp/ open prison feel.Almost non existent entertainment for adults or teens. Dire to be truthful. Shuttle bus hit and miss to nearby scruffy resorts. Taxis €30 euro return......dont do it. Taxi drivers rude and miserable Food a mixed bag. Largely low grade, often luke warm. You wont starve but it's not the best and choice is very limited. Avoid luke warm food!!!!! Main pool not the cleanest and tiles falling off. Baby pool looks ok from a distance but can't really comment. One Kayak or pedalo per room free for 30 mins a day. Extra Kayaks €5. Pedalo with slide €15. Have to wear a life vest so movement restricted for the slide. Rooms nice size but dated. Cleaned daily with fresh towels. Upgrade badly needed. Bathroom had mouldy tiles and scruffy shower curtain over a grotty bath. Drinks not the worst but not the best. Can buy premium drinks but expensive. Staff were polite but some were a bit serious natured. If you want a proper 4 star experience dont do it. Oh and take beach/water shoes for beach as rocky.

I would advise anyone to avoid this hotel at all costs unless you want to be taken down by severe food poisoning from the "snack bar". Pool - Sharp on bottom of feet inside the kids pool as if its not cleaned, no grip at all and saw several people slip and fall over poolside on the tiles daily. Rooms - we had a leak in our room that seemed to be from the air conditioning - we used towels and blankets on the floor to mop this up daily. The room wasn't the cleanest and very dated - they definitely do not look like the photos online. There was a constant stream of ants in our bathroom the whole stay too. The bathroom wasn't great with the shower water coming up through a drain on the floor which again needed towels putting down. Food - The food was average - we had all inclusive so had breakfast, lunch and Dinner, access to ice cream and snack bar. There was a variety of food but in our 4 days we only had 1 day with greek food on offer which was disappointing. The snack bar had club sandwiches, hot dogs and burgers available throughout the day however do not go near this as you will become unwell fairly quickly!!!!!!!! the sandwich from the snack bar put one of our party in the hospital after collapsing from severe dehydration caused by food poisoning. Staff - some hotel staff were pleasant enough but there was one lady in particular that was very rude - the bar in the main hotel building didn't open until 5pm each day so if you wanted a quiet 10 minutes for a drink in the air conditioning you couldn't do this. The drinks on the all inclusive are limited and not the kinds of cocktails you'd expect them to be! Entertainment - This really lacked, there was minimal - out of the 4. nights there was a kids disco on the one night for 30 mins then the other nights nothing at all! the kids club was in the basement of the hotel with a ball pit, a pool table pushed against the wall so it couldn't be used and that's all. Overall I would not recommend you stay at this hotel - there are so many more that would be better suited, better facilities and less likely to get food poisoning that ruined our trip! I wanted to give this hotel a good review but there was nothing positive about our stay and we would not return and would tell others to avoid.
