Greenwood safari camp

Everything war perfect! Magdy is such a nice host. Alex the safari driver showed us a lot of amazing animals. Thank you so much!

The staff welcomed us super friendly and showed us around. We got dinner and breakfast which was made freshly and especially the dinner was super tasty. It’s super close to Talek Gate and a great starting point to start an early safari. For people traveling on a budget 10/10 recommend.

The camp staff and manager is very friendly and helpful and organized everything very good. When sleeping in the tent you can hear at night all different animals including hippos. The dinner and breakfast was great. When going to Safari the staff will pack a great breakfast or also lunch for you which you can eat in the park. The bar area is very chill, but it was not open. You can though easily ask the staff for anything anytime. We were upgraded to a double bed after the first night! It is possible to buy some bananas, crisps and yoghurt at Talek (go to the Hardware shop, electrical shops). It is 20 min through the sun so take a sunscream with you. The camp organized a driver from Nairobi ($150 one way, which is a bit expensive but worth it if you want to avoid much trouble) The camp is one of the cheaper options in general but keep in mind the costs for getting there and for dinner, safari... it might save you $500 but ask yourself if that will be worth it.

My Kenyan girlfriend was treated differently at breakfast than me. The staff gave us the option to get either boiled eggs or fried eggs. My girlfriend asked for boiled eggs. The staff refused and said it would take too long... We asked ourselfs why the boiled eggs option was even given ... The other day, when we woke up for a safari at 6 AM we were given boiled eggs... The staff were trying though another time to make her more comfortable by cooking Ugali for her for supper :) When we left, we were informed a bit late that we needed to keep our bar gate safari ticket ($200 from July 2024) We could have easily thrown it away as I thought we don't need it anymore after entering the park... When leaving you will need it. If you don't leave before 10 AM (Park rules) and don't have a ticket from the day before another full day bar gate ticket needs to be paid (per person) to take the shorter route back through the park to get to Narok and or Nairobi... The Restaurant will serve fixed dishes. Do not expect choices. They will serve good food so don't worry. One day some food from the day before was recooked... it was ok but gave us the feeling that we paid $12 for not much more...

Staff was very kind and nice. Owner came during dinner to every table to ask how everything was. Also in the early morning before safari the owner would say hi. Dinner was extremely cozy and good, thanks to the very kind staff

We booked a private tent with shower, they have some electricity problems because of floats in May; this was probably the reason that our shower was not getting warm.

I had a great time at the camp. It’s very clean and I enjoyed my time there. It’s a wonderful experience which I will never forget. The owner is very friendly and helps with everything, also the stuff is just great. Next time I come back, I will definitely choose the same accommodation. I can recommend this camp. Thank you so much for everything, you made my Massai Mara experience unique and unforgettable.

Sleeping at Greenwood camp was the best experience in Kenya so far. We booked a tent with breakfast,but when we arrived and realised that there was actually nothing around, we asked for lunch and dinner too. Best decision ever. Food is yummy and the serving portions are big (eg. For dinner we got soup, salad, main course and dessert). Magdy also upgraded our tent free of charge! The camp's vibe is welcoming and everyone is super nice. Even the neighbours (baboon accompanied us from the reception to the tent)! The tent was comfortable - we slept like babies and clean. Camps manager Magdy helped us organise a driver for a full day safari in Maasai Mara. The safari was a dream thanks to the driver/guide Alex too. Camp packed breakfast and lunch for us and the driver made sure we had two picnics in nature next to a river full with hippos and crocodiles. We suggest booking a private car (not shared), because we were able to change seats depending where the animals were. We travelled to the camp and back with local transport (Nairobi - Narok - Talek). We suggest reading the instructions you receive upon booking and making sure you have managers phone number saved. The driver from Narok to Talek needs to know which road to take so you don't cross park and pay the entrance fee. Our driver wasn't sure, so they called Magdy. Last day Magdy drove us to the station and talked to the driver and gave him instructions. We felt super safe in the camp thanks to the night security guard Dan. He told us a lot about the animals that live in and around the camp. We spent only two nights there, but if we are ever coming back to Kenya, we will go to Greenwood camp again 100%.

The camp is right beside Masai Mara Nationalpark. The stay in the camp is very unique since you are living right in the nature . We enjoyed the Masai Mara experience and Magdy and his staff made our stay in Masai Mara unforgettable. Thank you!

People friendly, good food, quiet for relaxing after full day game drive. Value for money. The manager Magdy replied message promptly and helped us organize everything and made sure we were all good every day.
