Mai Chau Valley Retreat

Mai Chau Valley Retreat was a fantastic place where nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very attentive to any requests we made and always had a smile to greet us. The grounds of the home stay were amazing with beautiful countryside all around. We loved that almost all of the ingredients they used for our meals were from their own garden which you could view from the restaurant area. All the meals we had were well presented and exceptionally good. You can hire bikes, motorbikes and taxis whilst there for a very reasonable rate. Our favourite thing to do was a cycle ride around the immediate area. We would definitely recommend Mai Chau Valley Retreat to anyone visiting this amazing area.

We loved everything. The only thing that we hadn’t understood is that even if you have booked it with Booking.com the accommodation cost has also got to be paid in cash at the end of the stay.

The place is serene and beautiful, in a peaceful valley, surrounded by mountains and stunning rice fields. The staff are helpful and friendly and the food is top-notch. We recommend a guided tour with Thanh: he’s a local and seems to know everyone and everything in the area. We live in Hanoi and will be making this our regular retreat from the city.

The location was perfect!! So quite and relaxing and really in the centre of a local Vietnamese town with very few tourists. The pool was lovely and view was stunning, the food was incredible! All from the local area and garden and cooked so well. We had an amazing relaxing stay here :) doing yoga, relaxing, exploring with bikes and eating well!

I can wholeheartedly recommend this place. A true oasis. The owner and his team are really amazing hosts that will make you feel very welcome and are eager to show you around the area. The area hosts a large number of tropical plants, artwork and many little details and surprises. Our double room was very spacious, clean, with a very high roof, fan as well as AC. You can rent bicycles from the place and there is plenty to see in the vicinity. Even though the place is a bit further away than the Mai Chai main town, it was a very good decision as you are also away from the more touristy parts, surrounded by rice fields and nature, and you can buy groceries in the nearby village if needed. Also, there's a public bus to the Mai Chau town every 15 minutes or just take a taxi. Having read some of the comments from some years ago it is clear that there have been several improvements, e.g. the pool is perfectly clean, and there are several food options you can select.

We loved the location and the facilities. The Retreat is a small and cozy accommodation, run mainly by the owner and her family. The room was clean, the pool was lovely and the restaurant was amazing! We couldn't choose the food however we were able to inform about allergies, intolerances and food we don't like. Everything we received was local, delicious, and made with love. The best food we ate during our holidays in Vietnam. We did a ride in the rice fields, partially accompanied by the owner's brother, and it was a nice quick tour. A quiet stop in the middle of Mai Chau, made special by the people running this place!
