Mai Chau Valley Retreat

Mai Chau Valley Retreat is such a beautifully and lovingly cared for place, you can feel the care and attention that has gone into it in every corner. It's really a beautiful part of the world. On the first day of our stay, 4 out of 5 of us had food poisoning brought over from a food tour in Hanoi so the first day was a day of rest. The 2nd day, the last one of us got it so we lost 2 days due to sickness. The staff here were absolutely exceptional - the owner, Hang, was so wonderful and had such a beautiful soul. She gave us everything to make us feel better - cooked herbs, teas, specific foods to help the stomach recover and the one thing that didn't taste great but worked was burnt rice tea which cleared us up the next day. This attentiveness and care is rarely seen in Europe but is something I have experienced in Vietnam often, having said that, Hang and her staff went above and beyond. A delightful place, with wonderful.people in a stunning part of Vietnam. We will be back, fitter and healthier.

Staff were so friendly, food was delicious, room was nice and in general the place is very pretty. Staff also helped us booking a limo back to Hanoi. We went to Mai Chau in the local bus and they walked us down to the bus stop and told the driver where to drop us off. Very generous people. They don't speak english but with google is easy to communicate. I would stay again 😊

Stunning location, beautiful pool, amazing cycling routes through the rice paddies nearby (the owner can take you to scenic places if you rent bikes from them). The food was great on some evenings/mornings and it was ok the other times.

My friends booked a room with a slightly different name to our room, plus it was more expensive, but we ended up getting the same room type. This wasn’t a huge deal but it caused confusion at first, especially because of the language barrier, and I don’t know if either them or us ended up getting a different room to what we paid for. One of the dogs that lives there barked outside our room for hours in the middle of the second night we stayed there.

Absolutely worth the trip from Hanoi! You can get dropped off in the middle of relaxing heaven, a bit removed from the more touristy parts of Mai Chau, and it’s gorgeous. Rent bikes from the owners and just explore unhindered (no guide needed). We had three kids (9,12,15) and the loved it. The food is delicious. Eat all meals there. Puppies are legit.

Nothing! Perfection!

Friendly staff and super yummy food. Kids loved the pool. Fresh produits from the garden. Even the eggs tasted so good.
