Meos Ambower Homestay Raja Ampat

Do you want to be in nature, without noise or light pollution, and have one of the most magnificent underwater worlds right outside your hut? ... Then come to Meos!

Do you want no water in your bed (not a waterproof roof), enough and varied food, a helpful and attentive staff? ... Then don't go to Meos!

Very nice location. In front of haus is a sea garden with colourfull corals, fishes and even sharks. Beautiful place worth to visit again if the world wouldn’t be so big and my wish list wouldn’t be so full.

We stayed 5 nights in Meos Ambower on our second visit to Raja Ampat. We chose to stay here because it is near Piaynemo. The things we liked about Meos Ambower: + Friendly hosts. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Barto introduced himself when we arrived and was very helpful for organising snorkeling trips. Noel was the cheerful boat guy. The young housekeeping ladies always had a smile for us. Owner Nick was away at the beginning of our visit so we didn't meet him until the last two days and he was nice and chill too. + Quiet location with minimal boat traffic. + Overwater bungalows were cooler than land bungalows we have stayed in at other places. All have steps down to the water from the deck apart from the second one (ours). + Bed has a raised mattress off the floor which makes it easier for oldies like us to get out at night. + The shower room and toilet room had nice tiled floors and were kept clean. + The boardwalk from the bungalows to the shower and toilet rooms was brand new and very nice. + Food was the usual RA fare (rice, rice and more rice) and plentiful. They even served afternoon tea! The overwater dining room at the end of the jetty was a definite bonus. + Snorkeling: The snorkeling along the house reef and especially underneath the dining room was great. The fan coral growing on the pylons rivalled ones we had seen days before at Friwen Wall. The best snorkeling trip for us was the Melissa Garden, Piaynemo view point and Rufus morning snorkeling trip. We also did a short snorkel trip to look for mantas at Andau. When we didn't spot any, we were dropped off to snorkel along the reef. Lo and behold, a small young manta came swimming by so we were very lucky! + Land flora and fauna: The gardens had pretty orchids growing on the trees. We also spotted a lace monitor lizard and a small coconut crab.

What we didn't like about Meos Ambower: - Only one toilet room and one shower room shared between 16 guests. When we arrived, all 6 bungalows plus 2 nearby overflow bungalows were occupied. - Cigarette smoke drifting into our bungalow from other guests smoking on their overwater bungalow decks.   Nick, please consider making the bungalows smoke free. Thanks.

This was our second stay here. We love the bungalows over the reef and the location is amazing. The reef and beaches in the area are beautiful, and it's cool to see the coconut crabs in the evening. Food is good and the afternoon snack is a bonus. We would return again and definitely recommend.

One night there were 14 guests, which is just too many for the facilities. And the evening meals were often not cleaned up from the dining area in the morning, which is pretty gross.

Everything was amazing! The location. The view. The sunset. Nick & the team are nice. Our bungalow was so nice with a great view, stairs to access to the sea.. comfy bed and a net. Baby sharks in front of the bungalow.

There is no top bedsheet & fan (but like the most of the places here and it’s was ok for us - also, I’m sure if you ask Nick he can find a solution ☺️)

Very social! Best coral reef! Close to really cool attractions and viewpoints! Also got midday snack, and WiFi from 18:00

They need to upgrade the facilities a little bit!

Fabulous location and so much warmth from the staff all helpful and friendly Place is very basic and pretty remote, don’t expect some luxury escape, but the views and scenery are really SENSATIONAL !

Beautiful place with amazing view and nice reef. Lots of corals, fish, baby sharks, ... Very nice people, good food, we had a very good time in Meos Ambower.

The place is extremely beautiful, the reef is very nice and just chilling on your balcony is exactly what you immagine raja ampat to be! Also the food was really good 👍🏻

Sadly I must say the communication and cleaning of the huts was very poor. Our bin was not emptied, I had to do that myself in the middle of the night because mice were having a party in there. And one of them even lived in our mattress. Also the prices of the tours on the site were higher turned out and Nick was quite rude about the discussion about it not being transparent. This all made the experience less when it could have been easily avoided. Further the rest of the staff was great and I would 100% recommend this place but I hope they fix these small issues.
