Hotel el Escondite

Shower barely works.

I liked that they had a private parking area. That's why I chose there. The room was nice. The bed was comfortable. Air conditioner worked great. They have a small mini fridge as well which was nice. They also have a small kitchen and washer and spinner. I was able to do my washing there and then put my clothes outside on the chairs and by the morning they were dry. The host was very nice as well. It is in town so you can go eat nearby. I felt safe.

You should take exact cash because sometimes they don't have change. Otherwise place was great. The parking area is limited so only a few cars can park.

A quiet place close to the city center for car owners, you can park your car in a closed parking lot. The price is reasonable and suitable for a small room.

Notice that there is no hot water to shower. It was a surprise to me, and the owner of the place said he mentioned it on the website. It's not something people even ask today it's trivial to be. It wasn't bad, because it's hot outside and it's still better with hot water

The hotel is a good value in the town of Las Terrenas. I arrived from Santo Domingo after a 2+45 bus ride and walked from the main bus station to El Escondite in about 20 mins. The town beach is only another 20 mins and Las Ballenas Beach only took me about 30=40 mins from the hotel on foot. El Escondite has a shared kitchen, free water cooler and Netflix.

There was a confusion between the owner and the hotel manager so all the rooms were full when I arrived just after noon. The owner offered to put me in another location at a very fair price showing that he cares more about his reputation than anything else. The only downsides I saw to this hotel are that the rooms are small and you're not staying closer to the beach but it is certainly a good value for its location.
