"Social Teahouse among the tea mountains"

This is an exceptionally friendly homestay/bed and breakfast. For drinking high quality tea, taking beautiful mountain forest hikes and eating central Taiwanese food, it's excellent. The atmosphere is highly social, so be prepared for conversations in many languages, and cups of tea with new people every day.

If you're not feeling terribly social, this place may be challenging. It's a bit rough and ready, so don't expect much luxury. It has loads of character, though.

"Wonderful respite in tea country at a cozy family run tea farm."

The home stay was absolutely wonderful. The hostess was warm, kind, and generous. She went out of her way to bring me to the room quite early and drove me and another guest to dinner. She coordinated my time in town, sadly I only had one day, and helped me structure my time so that I could have a tea experience, hiking, and seeing fireflies. Bed was very comfortable, the atmosphere casual and loving, and the sweet three legged dog OK was affectionate. Breakfast was delish. The hiking trails were close walk away and clearly marked. I highly recommend this place.

Highly recommended - the host family went out of their way to welcome us. They were really friendly and helpful, including coming to pick us up (for a reasonable extra fee) from Chiayi train station and also the next day dropping us off at Fenchihu (for no extra charge). The firefly tour was amazing. The breakfast of local veggies was perfect.

We met a few creepy crawlies but given this was in the middle of a rural area then I think that's what you have to expect.
