Casa Menezes - A Heritage Goan Homestay

It was a fantastic old Portugese house, lovingly restored by its owner whose family had lived there for centuries. There’s a bit to go with the large downstairs rooms and I would love to see it when completed.

The heritage look and cleanliness of the property and behavior of the property owner was awesome.

Truly a gem of a property and homestay. Nicole and David are genuinely the nicest people you can meet on your travels in Goa and India. This is a homestay and not a hotel -- it is run local Goan small-business owners who are doing this out of the love of the heritage and history of Goa and truly happy to welcome you to this beautiful part of India. As a solo traveller in India for a month, I prioritized staying at heritage properties and Casa Menezes did not disappoint. Nicole and David were super responsive to emails and Whatsapp prior to my arrival. They checked in to ensure I had transport arranged, anticipated my time of arrival to offer a home-cooked dinner, and made me feel at home immediately upon arriving. After a long days travel, arriving felt like coming to a friends house. The room itself was very spacious with antique furniture that showcases Goan and Portuguese heritage and culture. The bed and bedding were some of the softest I've slept on during my month-long travels throughout India. The air condition also was the most effective and the room and property had very strong and reliable internet access. Breakfast was lovely on the balcony. The Menezes offered local experiences and locations to tour in Goa and made it easy for someone that didn't fully have a plan when I arrived. Through my 2 night stay, I had several conversations with Nicole about life in Goa, the joys of travel, the future of India, and the history and efforts involved in the upkeep of the property. I also received a tour of the property and was able to appreciate the loving attention the Menezes have put into maintaining a truly heritage building. I regret not staying for longer but I left knowing I will be booking an extended stay in my future travels in this part of the world.

I recently stayed at this beautiful heritage homestay nestled in a peaceful village surrounded by tall palms, thick greenery, and a gentle quiet that feels rare these days. The traditional house carries a wonderful sense of history-old wooden details, thoughtful décor, and a warm, earthy atmosphere that immediately makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper. The hosts were truly the highlight of my stay. They are incredibly friendly, approachable and caring. You can feel that they love their home and enjoy welcoming others into it. The food was another highlight-delicious, fresh, and full of local flavors. The breakfasts in particular were wonderful, prepared with care and perfect for starting the day. The surroundings are equally charming: quiet paths lined with palms and plenty of green spaces to simply sit and unwind. It’s a perfect place to disconnect from the rush of everyday life and reconnect with simple, natural beauty. If you’re looking for a serene getaway with heartfelt hosts, cultural charm, and an authentic village experience, this heritage homestay is an absolutely delightful choice.

I do not think it is possible to find more helpful and friendly staff- the hotel itself is very clean, spacious and provides delicious food, but great care their team takes of guests is their greatest asset.

A wonderful old house with many interesting features, artwork and local history. We appreciated the fresh linen, hot shower, and mini fridge for drinks. Our hosts were very kind and helpful, gave us a lot of help with arranging a driver and things to do. The breakfast was plentiful, fresh home cooked food. If we could have stayed longer we would have liked to explore the local area more as it sounds like there is much more to see.

No problems. As a suggestion it would be nice if guests could use communal areas of the historic house, eg for breakfast service.
