Casa Menezes - A Heritage Goan Homestay

Lovely place with warm, friendly people and lots of smiles. They were patient with my late check in which I really appreciate. The property is a treasure of time and history... Perfect way to step into the Goan vibe!

Wow! The house is really beautiful and huge, it's a colonial house that has a lot to say and the owners are very happy to share the history of the house and the place! The rooms are perfect and following the house style, the bathroom was spacious and looked perfect. I tried the pool just one time but it was big and clean, I couldn't swim more because I hadn't so much time to stay there, but I had time to chat with the owner one night while staying close to the pool in the little "restaurant/breakfast place", he gave us (but Nicole too) a loooot of information about Goa, on what to see, on what to not see, what to do and how to move around Goa. Please follow their instructions on tours and others, they know how to make you experience Goa without spending a lot and without any hassle, also follow Goan vibes (relax and let the days pass relaxing and partying). The restaurant by lunch and dinner was something special because of the menu changing based on what they bought for the day (I had the opportunity to eat a lot of Indo-Portuguese plates). Owners accepted with a smile every request we had. I won't say I recommend this place, I'll just say that if I can live there with them I'd do it!

This is a character building which has been in the Menezes family for about 400 years. It is a real homestay as you are made to feel just that - at home. David is a great host - informative, helpful and genuine. The room was spacious, clean and had everything expected. The property is in a quiet location but only about 20 minutes from Old Goa. Batim Lake ( 5 minutes walk) is peaceful and a popular bird watching location. The home cooked food in the restaurant is freshly cooked and delicious. Overall, a very memorable and enjoyable stay.

David and the team are fabulous. Always giving great advice on where to go and what to see. The property is really lovely, bed is comfortable and breakfast authentic. We love this place, having stayed previously and sure to stay again when we return to Goa.

So much to like that I don't know where to begin, it's a quaint and beautifully maintained Portuguese home that David and Nicole have done an amazing job on. For those looking for authentic Goan food, do grab lunch or dinner at their kitchen. It's some of the best homemade Goan food I've had ... and made me felt at home. A definite recommendation for travellers looking for a homestay and revel in the beauty of old school Portuguese homes and food.

This homestay was the highlight of our trip. David and Nicole were excellent hosts, not only giving us a history of the area, but also helping us coordinate experiences we were interested in. The even paired us with a driver who helped us navigate the area. They have a beautiful view outside every morning and the rooms were spacious and comfortable while still keeping some of the original design from the 1600's. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

The 300 year old heritage building is breathtaking. The long corridors, well appointed elegant rooms with beautiful antiques, serene views of coconut palms and fields away from the hustle and bustle of the usual tourist spots... every bit contributed to a feeling of leisure, comfort, and old world charm. The hosts, David and Nicole were helpful and gracious. They and their team (a special mention here of the wonderful Laxmi) made sure we were well looked after throughout our 4-day stay. Whether booking a local car or finding the not very well known Reconciliation Chapel in Pilar Seminary with stunning Portuguese 'Azulejos' tiles, David shared his tips and knowledge generously. His collection of art scattered all over the property brought a sense of wandering into a museum... The food served is quintessentially Goan - all very delicious that goes down well with a glass or two of the local 'Urak' and Feni. When we wanted something different, they didn't hesitate to accommodate our requests. We are looking forward to being back here!

Nothing to do with the property, but the distance from beaches and other restaurants requires one to hire a taxi or rent a car to get around. It actually works well as a sanctuary in a quiet village away from the usual noise

A real authentic homestay with old but very nice furniture. David and Nicole are the bests hosts. They do everything to make you feel comfortable. David even drove miles to get me a coconut! And he gave us lots of information to get around. The Goan breakfast was really tastefull. The view of the greenery was marvellous!

It was such a pitty the swimmingpool was at that time in maintenance.
