Rock View Home Stay

Beautiful location, surrounded by trees and walking distance to the Dambulla caves. Really comfortable bed and very clean room, amazing home cooked food for dinner and breakfast if you want it, and the family who run this place are very kind and generous with their time and attention and care.

Great owners, very welcoming and kind. The room was very clean, we had everthing we needed. The house has a nice terrase facing jungle trees where you can spot monkeys and birds. Breakfast was good, location is perfect, close to Dambulla center but on a calm and green street. It is the street going to the cave temple - in about 5-10 minutes you can walk to the temple. Tuck-tuck to Dambulla is about 0.7 euros.

Our hosts were so welcoming when we arrived on our bicycles like drowned rats. Wathsala cooked a delicious meal for us and her son Kithu spoke very good English. We enjoyed being able to walk up the road to the Cave Temples and watch birds from the balcony.

Really friendly and helpful hosts, clean and quiet rooms. Both the dinner and breakfast were varied, fresh, plentiful and tasty. Overall incredibly good value. Very short walk to the rock temple ticket office and entrance and there were rice paddies and ruins and a stupa before temple entrance. Host offered to drive me and another guest to sigriya at a very low price. Very kind hosts and I felt at home. Lovely breezy balcony to hang out and great WiFi too.

Modern. Well equipped with thoughtful planning for travellers. Family make themselves available any time of the day. Greatly supportive. Incredible value for money. A memorable experience just staying here.

It was very clean and comfortable. Wathsala and Upul made us feel like we are at home. Hugh rooms with a beautiful balcony to relax on.

The place was really nice and clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable ones on our whole trip. The place is a little outside of the city but we enjoyed the quiet and relaxed atmosphere and we could walk to the cave temple. But what made the stay special were our lovely hosts! They made sure we were always comfortable, helped us arranging a safari and our next stay. We even spent one evening together on the balcony talking for hours. It was great talking to locals and getting a chance to ask all of our questions that came up during our time in Sri Lanka. Thank you very much!

I had such a wonderful time here. The hosts Upul and Wathsala are just so kind and warm. Rooms are clean and spacious, the breakfast/dinner was typical Sri Lankan, very tasty! They made me feel like part of their family.😊 It is peaceful and out of the way from Dambulla so expect either a 25 min walk from the centre or a tuktuk. 5 min walk from the Temple. Upul kindly showed me a rock nearby (hence the name of the place) and saw one of the most beautiful sunsets. Bit of a steep climb and I probably shouldn't have done it in flipflops lol but it was so worth it.

5 minutes walking distance from the famous Caves and from the Golden Temple. The hosts are incredible; friendly, kind and warm they made my stay in Dambulla special. Rock View is super clean, excellent bathroom facility and a very good hot powerful shower! The room was spacious and functional, modern and comfy. Amazing fresh and generous breakfast. Rock View is surrounded by nature and at night it’s quite, the perfect place for a good night sleep.

Good internet connection, probably not one of the strongest I found travelling around but definitely good, does the job.
