Michael and Ruwanthi have truly created a little piece of paradise in Haputale. From the moment we arrived, we were treated not as guests, but like family. Their warmth, kindness, and genuine passion for what they do shines through in absolutely everything — from the thoughtful attention to detail around the accommodation, to the care they show each guest personally. The accommodation itself was spotless, beautifully furnished, incredibly comfortable, and had easily the best view we experienced in Sri Lanka. Waking up to that scenery every morning felt unreal! And then there’s the FOOD. Every meal was exceptional - Ruwanthi could easily open her own restaurant and give many establishments a run for their money. The flavours, freshness, and love put into every dish was remarkable - please do not give their meals a miss when staying here! We also loved Ruwanthi’s informative cooking classes and garden tour, which were both fascinating and so thoughtfully conducted - so much heart has been poured into creating a meaningful experience for their guests. We stayed for 2 nights, and but this was nowhere close to the amount of time we really needed to fully soak everything in, and to get to know their adorable dogs. Wished we had booked a much longer stay (next time!). This was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka, and we cannot recommend it highly enough!

Einfach alles !!!!! Die Unterkunft und der Garten sind ein Traum ! Wunderschön in die Landschaft angepasst. Die Vermieter sind unwahrscheinlich liebenswerte Menschen - sie geben so viele gute Tipps und vor allen Dingen kochen sie das beste Essen , was wir in Sri Lanka hatten . Die Vermieterin hat eine Gartenführung gemacht und im Anschluss haben wir ein cooking mit der Mutter der Vermieterin gemacht - es war wunderbar und auch wieder so lecker !!! Sie haben alle frischen Dinge und Kräuter in ihrem eigenen Garten . Alles ein Träumchen / We love it !!!! Und wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und können es allen Freunden uneingeschränkt empfehlen . Als Gast kommen , als Freund gehen !

Nichts ! Es ist alles perfekt !

Einfach alles. Die Gastgeber sind großartig!!! Das täglich frisch zubereitete Frühstück (jeden Morgen wurde gebacken) und Abendessen sowie die Teatime waren einfach toll. Es ist noch schöner, als die Bilder es versprechen. Wir wären so gerne länger geblieben.

Es gibt wirklich nichts zu bemängeln :)

Un lieu à part que l'on voudrait garder pour soi. On se sent comme à la maison tellement l'accueil est chaleureux et le cadre est exceptionnel. Nous n'avons qu'une envie... revenir vite.

Spectacular property in every way from the rooms to the house to the estate itself. The view is simply breathtaking and the bathroom also has the same beautiful view. Fantastic, friendly and hospitable hosts in Michael and Ruwanthi with AMAZING food and drink sourced from their estate and lovingly made by Ruwanthi (and team). Other staff members were also extremely polite and kind. This place is truly magical with so much to offer than initially meets the eye. Highly highly recommend.

Nothing - I would recommend booking more than 1 night which was my mistake to fully enjoy what the property has to offer.

Une maison d’hôtes exceptionnelle. Accueil chaleureux par les propriétaires qui sont d’une grande générosité et d’une immense gentillesse. Ruwanthi et Michael réussissent l’équilibre de l’élégance et de la simplicité. N’hésitez surtout pas à accompagner Ruwanthi dans son jardin, sa connaissance des plantes, arbres et épices est impressionnante et sa cuisine exquise!

Our stay at this boutique hotel in Haputale was nothing short of exceptional. Perched in the hills with some of the most stunning views I have ever seen, it offered the perfect mix of comfort, tranquility, and natural beauty. Michael and Ruwantha were incredible hosts—warm, genuine, and the kind of people who instantly make you feel at home. Their hospitality truly elevated our experience. The surrounding nature was remarkable, and Ru’s garden was a highlight on its own, filled with an impressive variety of plants that made every walk around the property feel special. The staff were always smiling and ready to help with anything we needed, creating a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. And the dogs! They were so friendly and added an extra touch of charm to the place. We stayed for three nights, and it simply wasn’t enough. This is the kind of place you leave already wanting to return. A true gem in the heart of Sri Lanka’s hill country.

We had booked two nights, but this stay turned into an exceptional and unforgettable experience thanks to our hosts Michael and Ruwanthi. Their warm welcome, a dinner worthy of a fine dining restaurant, and the best breakfast of our lives (both in quality and quantity, all homemade with fresh products from the garden) will remain forever in our memories. Ruwanthi gave us a wonderful tour of the lush garden, full of animals (cows, chickens, ducks, monkeys, squirrels…) leading all the way down to a beautiful waterfall. The pool, naturally supplied with mountain water and chlorine-free, is simply stunning and brilliantly designed. The house itself, built with incredible taste, offers breathtaking views of the natural park and mountains from every room. The staff was always discreet, smiling, and attentive, adding to the charm of the stay. This is truly a haven of peace that we wholeheartedly recommend. If we ever return to Sri Lanka, this place alone will be a reason to come back.
