South Downs View-private parking

Free parking, breakfast included and location were our priorities when finding somewhere to stay for this trip. South Downs vview ticked all the boxes when booking. Parking available in the drive, breakfast was really good. Karen has thought of everything, good selection of cereal including porridge, pastries, toast with a toaster and excellent selection of spreads including marmite and peanut butter(our faves). There is a guest frdge with orange juice, milk, natural yoghurt and a few other bits n pieces. Guests can use this fridge for their own food if necessary. There is a kettle with a good selection of tea and coffee and a microwave. The breakfast room was bright and clean with patio doors onto a seating area with a small garden above although we did not use this as the weather was not great in the mornings. It was easy to get a bus into the centre of Brighton (takes about 20 mins). Karen was a lovely host, came and chatted to us over breakfast and was so accomodating, she even called out when she heard us coming back in the evening and chatted to us about our day. She was able to give us recommendations for places to eat close by and even provided ice, a tea towel and hot water bottle for my swollen knee after I tripped and fell in Brighton. Nothing was too much trouble, she was great. The whole house was clean and decor was lovely. Our bedroom was small with a sloping ceiling and a lovely view over the South downs (hence the name). There was kettle with tea and coffee provided in the room and there was a hairdryer. For a couple of nights stay it was perfect. The bathroom is across the landing and again very clean. You share with the host but we did not find that a problem at all, in fact it was almost as if it was our own bathroom.

Double room had a sloped ceiling so you just had to be careful on the window side of the room that you didn't bang your head. Nothing to be done about this and is not a complaint just an observation.

Very clean room and home, the host was very welcoming and helpful, facilitating a slightly earlier check-in time. Breakfast was provided and left out for me. Could not fault it. Parking right outside and an easy bus ride into town.

We really enjoyed staying in Karen’s double room. It was warm and cosy, with everything we needed. Having the parking spot in Brighton made life easier. Karen is a friendly and obliging host.

Very, very clean and tidy. Only two guest rooms with a shared bathroom. But that’s not a problem as there is also another separate wc. Breakfast was excellent. The host is very easygoing.
