Collecting the keys from another location was a real pain. The bed was a bit firm but might suit others

Loved the spaciousness of the living and dining and the terrace was lovely in the afternoon sun. Bed was very comfortable and both bathrooms very modern and attractive.

Some of the communication was confusing for us. We had to walk quite a distance to get the keys and didn’t know our apartment number. The person who answered the call from Basque Stay was very friendly and helpful though. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped but needed a bread board and some better kitchen knives. We stayed for 3 days and would have appreciated a few more dishwasher and washing machine powder capsules. Seperate pillows and 2 extra pillows would be good too.

There was no breakfast, and the hosts didn't leave any complimentary items at all, in the kitchen or the bathroom(surprising for a rental that is not cheap). The kitchen was perhaps the best thing in the apartment, it is well equipped.

The apartment was in much worse shape than the photographs suggested, particularly the bedroom, which had all the charm of a hospital room in 1973 Bucharest. The carpet in the room is disgustingly filthy, the lighting is horrible, the ugly wallpaper is peeling, there are no night tables, instead the bed is trapped between two unnecessarily large and ugly wardrobes.

Situation good. Flat good

The least one expected was salt to be in kitchen. Nowhere is the kitchen bereft of basics like salt and sugar. We were compelled to buy a kilo of salt (as no lesser quantity was available ) for a 5 night stay. And it was the most expensive apartment of our trip.

The slightly dated apartment was clean and spacious and is in a great location, off the main river but facing the rear, close to the old town and all the lovely eating places, a short walk to city buses, transport, the main train station is on cobbelstone paths '3 bridges' away, both main beaches are a short stroll.

Key collection was not a nice feeling, perhaps the agent managing rental accomodation has to step up on customer care like several owner managed apartments we stayed at in Spain. We arrived at night on a train from Madrid, 9ish. As it would have been a long late night walk into a new city, we then had to take a taxi to the office to collect the keys (which was in an automated key safe), then go to the accomodation, a detour with extra taxi distance at our cost. We were lucky the taxi driver was understanding and patient. Suggestion is obvious as we had in several places in Spain and elsewhere even in properties on main streets or quieter streets like this one, install a key safe at the main door, let us know the keypad code to get the keys.... simple.
