Hay View Lodges - Barn End

Beautiful Views, Very Quiet on a working farm. Comfortable sofa to relax on after work and comfortable beds. Rustic looking barn very quirky. Good quality internet.

TV could have been bigger, difficult to see it across the room from the sofa.

The peace and quiet, the accommodation was tranquil, we loved it there.

The little step up to the bathroom caught me out a couple of times

The Lodge was close to Hay-on-Wye, it was in a beautiful location. The host was very friendly and helpful. The facilities were thoughtful parking was right outside the Lodge. The accommodation was super clean and comfortable. The accommodation was quirky which we loved and so pretty. It was a secluded quiet spot but close enough to the hosts main house to feel safe and secure. There were farm animals around and chickens to see. You could buy fresh farm eggs. The cooking facilities were excellent and there was a washing machine.

We only stayed for one night, but the property was spacious, very clean, and had everything we needed. The facilities were great, and the host was quick to respond and helpful when we got a bit lost finding the place. She was also very understanding when we arrived a little late due to traffic from a collision. Overall, a comfortable short stay.

The property had a very strong smell of mold — nothing was visible, but it triggered my allergy and asthma during the night. I had to wake up very early for a hike, so I didn’t think it was worth waking the host in the middle of the night. Thankfully, I had my medication with me, but we needed to keep all the windows open to manage. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone with allergies, especially to mold. The address listed on Booking.com led us to a different residential property, which caused confusion. I was lucky to have barely any signal at that location — my mum had none at all. It would have been very difficult to even contact the host if we hadn’t had at least a bit of reception. The host helped once we got in touch, but updating the listing with the correct address would be very helpful. There were papers with local information, but it was difficult to find the Wi-Fi details. I had to message the host late in the evening, which wasn’t ideal. It also took me a while to figure out how to turn the shower on when I used it in the evening. My mum wanted to use it the next morning, but since I had already left for a hike, I wasn’t able to explain it to her. A single information sheet with Wi-Fi details and basic instructions would really improve the experience.

The owners were very friendly and welcoming giving my mum a bottle of prosecco for her birthday which I thought was a lovely gesture! We only stayed 1 night which was great to have that option as a lot of accommodation has a minimum 2 night stay which isn,t always needed! Everything we needed was available and we had a lovely cosy night , the beds were comfy and we slept well!
