Good Times Edinburgh Elm Row City Centre Apartment

Clean and comfy flat. No lounge available but the bedroom, bathroom and kitchen were all great. Good location near trams and buses on Leith Walk. Also easily walkable to city centre. Don’t be put off by the appearance of the building. Once you’re inside the flat it’s very nice. We would use this place again.

Heating was set at 17-18 degrees and not adjustable. It was ok at night in bed as the duvet was thick and warm but the flat itself was chilly and we would have liked it a bit warmer. The shower is a kind of wet room arrangement and the bathroom floor becomes quite slippery. A squeegee is provided but even so it was slippery and just something to be aware of. Requirement for a £200 deposit was unusual but it was returned very promptly.

Good location, a short walk from the city centre. Access to public transport, although we ended up walking to most places. Kitchenette was useful. The apartment itself has some beautiful architectural details.

The £200 request for a safety deposit to be paid to a personal bank account before the stay (but after booking) but a rude shock. It should have been made more transparent prior to booking. Building foyer and stairwell was dark and smelt of cigarettes. I would strongly suggest bringing your own toiletries - both hand wash and body wash seemed watered down and not pleasant to use. Easily the worst shower we came across in all our travels - shower curtain that sticks to you whilst using, water drips from the top nozzle whilst using the bottom nozzle, no ventilation in the bathroom so everything is soaked until the heating kicks in. Slides (thankfully!) provided for use in bathroom otherwise we would have slipped and fallen on the wet floor. Heating in the apartment was not able to be controlled internally which meant that at times it was very cold. I did at one stage reach out to the owner who adjusted the temperature which was great. The bedroom, bathroom and kitchen are ‘open’ to use, but two of the other rooms are locked along with cupboards in the bedroom and kitchen. The washing machine is also locked and not usable. For a full apartment, about a third of it is actually usable - it is not the most relaxed or comfortable place to stay. Cramped into the kitchen or bedroom :( Microwave in kitchen did not work despite trying all owner’s instructions on ways to get it working.

The pillows and the bed was a bit uncomfortable

Good location, close to the center. Bedsheets, pillows and towels were quite clean. Bathroom was also clean.

200 pound deposit is high even though they return it back quite fast.

Good location, comfortable bed and serviceable bathroom and kitchen. Also good value compared with other places to stay.

No TV or radio. Lots of locked doors and cupboards (even the washing machine) which seemed a little unnecessary. Keybox is hard to use in the dark - I had to use my phone torch to light it and if I didn't have this it would be very difficult to secure the key.

Great location, comfy bed and good value. I found the property exactly as expected. The location was great, just two minutes from the tram and within walking distance of all the main attractions

Communication was a little confusing at times, I think I was talking to more than one person. The 200 deposit was an unusual request and felt a little suspicious - I paid it through Paypal and was refunded within 48 hours of leaving so it worked out fine

Lovely little apartment! Tastefully decorated and well stocked with the essentials. The location is well situation being close to amenities and transport links but not so close there’s lots of noise at night.

The apartment is up a couple of flights of steep stone steps which wasn’t great as my partner is on crutches, so it’s a shame I didn’t know that when booking. The lockbox for the key is also quite fiddly but got there in the end!
