Machermore Castle East Lodge

Lovely accommodation. Nicely decorated, with good facilities.

The bathroom was a bit like a sauna. The parking area was tilted towards a bit of a drop.

Clean and good location

Soulless and basic. No view or usable outside space. Radiator in bathroom set permanently to boiling was unbearably hot and made the house v hot. Temperamental cooker. No kitchen provisions at all e.g. oil or salt. Needs a holder for shampoo etc in shower.

Very well finished and perfectly equipped Lodge, truly a home from home. The grounds are beautiful and offer great little walks for you and your 4 legged friends. The location is also fairly central, allowing you to visit the local area with ease 😁

Very nice location, next to the castle and about 15-20 min walk into Newton Stuart. Plenty of space for 4 adults. Fantastic neighbors, very helpful, made friends immediately.

Some of the kitchen ewquipment hardly usable, e.g. frying pans. Apart from that, all was good.

It was self catering. Quiet location with trees and birds. The lodge was comfortable and reasonably well equipped and had outside space to sit in. Weather was amazingly hot and sunny. A good location from which to explore the area.

The radiator in the bathroom couldn't be turned off so it was like entering a furnace. Made contact with Emily but got no effective response. There was little information about the kitchen appliances so had to Google how to use the oven/ hob. Had difficulty getting information about access to the property. Could have done with a parasol for the garden table!

Clean well equipped and nicely located in a picturesque part of Scotland.

Beds too small. Settee's not comfortable. No access code supplied despite an email reminder request.

If I was to be really picky could do with more comfortable outdoor furniture.

Unable to access key in lock box Unable to communicate with owners (phone number provided by Booking.com was incorrect) Hot water system broke down (apparently storm damage) Heating broke down ( storm damage)

Lovely clean accommodation with no clutter. The setting was private and the surroundings were lovely. It is within easy reach of shops in Newton Stewart. The proximity of fantastic walks in the Galloway Forest is a big plus. i

We did not like Newton Stewart. Eating and drinking places were very uninviting.
