The position was perfect. Right in the city centre and near York Minster. The accommodation itself was truly unique. If you have an appreciation for historical and characterful buildings this is the place for you. The four poster bed and roll top bath were a bonus. Central heating kept the place lovely and warm. Amazing facilities! Luggage storage was a big help as we had a few hours before our train departed and it meant we could enjoy York unencumbered. Me and my partner had an absolutely amazing time and hope to stay again in the future.

Only thing I would mention is that because of the age of the property the floorboards are a bit uneven. I personally found it endearing and part of it's charm, but it's worth keeping in mind if you are unsteady on your feet.

Location and staff helpfulness

Not suitable for 5 adults...no door on the upstairs room and single bed unsuitable for adult so had to sleep on the couch. Had a shower and a worm appeared in the bath with me...unpleasant. Neighbours in next apartment make noise through thin walls and toilet right behind double bed. Stairs dangerous

"Beautiful apartment, excellent facilities and location."

10.0

This place is beautifully historic. The apartment is wonderfully different from places we've stayed before and we loved it for all its quirks. The view from the bedroom window overlooking the minster is fantastic. It's wonderfully cosy mixed with the atmospheric decor such as the framed upside down hanging bat and the heads above the fireplace and the ouija board. A nice seamless mix of medieval with modern facilities. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom facilities are great The kitchen is excellent and is well equipped. I love that the apartment is so central to everything we like to be around, and just a short distance from York Minster. There's everything we needed for a comfortable and atmospheric stay.

I can't think of anything. We really enjoyed it so very much. I'm going to be gutted to leave tbh. If I really had to reach for something to write, if you're over 5'8", learn to duck down a smidge through the doors and towards the sink in the kitchen. To be perfectly clear, there's clear warning about this on a sign above the door to the kitchen so it's kind of on him. But I can't honestly even say this is something we don't like about the place because it's an obviously old building and the uneven floors and low doors just add to its charm and beauty. We just worked around it. It was actually really funny to watch my other half try to put his trousers on one-legged on an uneven floor before he'd got used to it.

"Perfect view and a fantastic place for a weekend away"

9.0

It really is in the central of York, free parking was perfect and a quaint little walk from the apartment. The apartment is historic and lives up to the name, cozy and the heating and facilities were great despite the age. Fully functioning kitchen and you get all of downstairs along with upstairs with all the privacy you'll need. Not a long to anywhere due to it being a central location which was perfect for my husband who has difficulty walking. The view from the bedroom was perfect as you could see the Cathedral from all angles, making it a really special time to wake up. Surrounded by shops and millions of places to eat and drink was great, the shop it is connected too is open late and very welcoming and accommodating, always went above and beyond for us, their shop was superb as an added bonus and had everything you could want.

This is personal to me but I was scared to use the Bath (I did but it was still startling), due to it being a historic landmark and the apartment trying to keep it's old quaint feel, the bath which is in the bedroom, which gives you a wonderful view of the cathedral in the bath if you so wish, however I was personally just a little scared of how rickety the floor and scary I found making sure I didn't cause any further water damage to the property. This cannot be altered so its more of a negative on me, as you want to keep the charm of the old place, however, when it feels like it creaks constantly whilst bathing and that I may fall through the floor due to my own anxiety at every bump, just be aware it might not be the most relaxing of times. But hey if what you're looking for is a quaint, historic apartment, kept in great condition and perfectly clean in the exact heart of York, you couldn't find better.

"Trembling apartments 70s Style"

8.0

The apartment is set in a fantastic location in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the streets in York. We loved the quirky 70's decor and the retro arcade games provivded a lot of fun! There was plenty of space downstairs for the 5 of us and 3 of us stayed upstairs and all beds were comfortable. Be warned of the vertical stairs! Staff were very helpful and gave more towels within half an hour when only 2 were provided. The breakfast pack was very cheap and the food was delicious.

Cleanliness let it down slightly, lots of cobwebs in kitchen! Not enough hot water for afternoon showers.

"A lovely stay and a really interesting place to explore"

10.0

The location was fabulous and right next to everything we needed aswell as being tucked away from the chaos of the city! The old style of the apartment made it feel like a fantasy world with a beautiful view of the minster over the other buildings from the living room window. Just lovely.

Everything was fabulous and its clear alot of effort was put into keeping this apartment true to its roots and comfortable for visitors.

"A fantastic stay for celebrating my auntie’s 60th"

9.0

The property was right in the centre of York, with free parking at nearby car parks, and was so cosy and atmospheric.

There was 4 of us staying so it was quite crowded but it was totally manageable, especially as we’re all so familiar with one another.
