Walkers Retreat with garden and views

The grounds were amazing. Thank you for allowing Brody (our dog) to have the run of the field. The property was perfect for us and just what we wanted. It had everything you could need and more. The location was quiet and a short walk to the country pub and community shop that did amazing frozen meals (Thai green curry!!!). We will definitely be making this a regular holiday spot. Thank you for having us.

A very comfortable property set in a lovely location. Fresh eggs and milk in the fridge on arrival were very much appreciated. Very comfortable bed.

The hosts were very welcoming.The apartment was cosy, and beautifully clean. We had everything we needed.

Not really a dislike but it was very small, so not much room for our luggage.

This is a wonderful base for exploring Dartmoor - brilliant to be within walking distance of the moors, lots of beautiful woods and the River Dart, with footpaths in all directions. The property has everything needed for a comfortable stay, plus amazing views from the windows and garden! Wish I could have stayed for longer!

Absolutely stunning views, huge comfortable bed! Beautifully clean and welcoming. Our little dog Lilly loved the huge garden/field. A great base to explore from and a fab pub just over the field

Walkers retreat is a real gem. The location is sublime . The garden a true delight with views to die for. Birdsong provided a wonderful soundscape creating a truly relaxing experience. The property itself provides everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Milk and eggs were waiting for us in the fridge, which was a thoughtful gesture by the hosts. The bed, a giant comfortable mattress with the softest pillows and quality bedlinen. Fluffy towels too.. It was lovely and clean, fresh and inviting. It also provides the perfect base from which to explore Dartmoor and the South Hams. Holne is a delight too with a great little community shop and Pub ( although this is only open from Thursday through to Sunday). Samantha and Alex are the perfect hosts. Samantha was warm and welcoming and very discreet. The apartment is attached to their home but at no point did we feel as if we were intruding on their personal space and truly felt as if we were the only ones there most of the time.

Nothing to dislike at all....our only disappointment was the pub not being open during our stay ! However, the community shop did have some rather splendid Dartmoor Ales to compensate.

This was our third visit to the Walkers Retreat, and we'll be back! Very comfortable, and quiet. Good facilities. Easy to get onto Dartmoor for lovely walking on the 3 sunny days we had; and a great place to retreat to on the one wet day!

Samantha and Alex have made this a fantastic place to stay. When we arrived it was warm and welcoming, eggs and milk waiting for us. Amazing views from the dining table. The bed is huge and so comfortable. This was our second visit, can’t wait to come again!
