Orchid House

The location was good for our needs and the hosts were pleasant . The accommodation was fairly spacious .

The accommodation is too close and overlooked by the owners own property , you are in their back yard , no privacy. The accommodation smelt damp but appeared clean , however not so . The fridge needs defrosting, large block of ice inside dripping on my food . I couldn't open 2 of the freezer drawers because they were frozen solid. Only one teabag , no coffee , no milk pods There was no washing machine as advertised on the booking.com site , the host did apologise and contact the website , she also offered to let me use her washer (my daughter was an inpatient at a local hospital). in the bathroom only half a toilet roll, had to ask for more. Only one hand towel , two bath towels to share for 3 nights . The only toiletries was a half used shower gel and hand wash . We had slugs twice in the shower and the toilet didn't flush properly. But the worst thing was the bed which looked lovely but was actually very badly stained . We won't come back despite the hosts being nice , they need to really look at what they are providing.

With a fully equipped kitchenette it’s perfectly possible to cook for yourself. There’s a very good local pub just a few minutes walk away. The beach is very close by.

Fantastic place! Super clean,cozy and comfortable. Great location. Shame I was on my own,travelling for work,otherwise there are great opportunities to explore in the area! Massive thanks to the hosts for their brilliant work!

To be honest, at first after booking Orchid House I read the reviews and was a little hesitant due to people saying not much privacy as the main house is just there. After I'd settled in I felt much better Me & my partner at no point felt like we were being watched or bothered at all, no people in and out, no one in the shared garden or anything. It was a lovely little stay away. The owners also put some of my left behind belonging to one side for me & I collected no problem, beautiful main house, seems like a lovely family too. Good location, clean and spacious. Nicely decorated and perfect for a couple of nights.

Bathroom radiator didn’t switch on, which meant it was cold in the bathroom. No wi-fi and very limited mobile signal.

It’s fine for 2 people on a short stay.

The website photos look great but it’s in need of some TLC in places. There is internet access which is stated on the description but make sure you are aware of that before you book.
