Bootham Retreat- Superb City Centre Hideaway-Free Parking

The location was excellent and the property was very clean. There were a number of charming little shops and cafes in the area.

The step into and out of the bath/shower was very high and the tub was very slippery, there was no anti slip mat and nothing substantial to hold onto. We didn't feel safe using the shower. In my opinion, not suitable for anyone with balance or mobility issues.

Location was superb, kitchen very well equipped, adequate storage in the bedrooms. Use of internet a bonus. Heating was variable but could be raised if needed. Support from the Bootham retreat excellent

The property is on the ground floor with small windows, it was quite airless and dark. Not a place you would use for anything but sleeping really. Which was fine for us. People coming in the main flat entrance are also unbelievable loud. When they enter the stairway the acoustics are such that it sounds like someone is coming into the actual flat. Every night around midnight we were jumping out of bed to check. Although after the first night we realised it was just noise, it’s hard to ignore, it really is that loud!

Excellent base for our short break in York. The proximity to central York was great, down a quiet side road away from passing traffic. The property was spacious enough for a family of four (especially when the weather forced us to stay in for an afternoon!). Great hot shower, very comfortable beds and pillows, all with nice clean laundry ready for our arrival. We arrived a little earlier than anticipated, and were kindly allowed in early which allowed us to enjoy York on our arrival day.

There are a couple of bits and pieces that could do with improvement, the WiFi was not great, there was a couple of things that need fixing, like door handles, cooker hood, slow draining bath, leaky bathroom (somewhere). All things easily remedied with a general maintenance. The neighbours were quite noisy coming and going early morning and late at night too!

Great communication from owners. Perfect location, short walk to York Minster, and city centre. Sainsburys & Tesco a short walk, loads of pubs & restaurants nearby, but accommodation was still quiet. Ideal with a private parking space. Property was safe and secure, very clean, with everything you needed.

Bathroom was in need of some decorating, new sealant around the basin, the shower leaked quite badly, and even with the heating on, it still felt a bit cold.

Location was amazing and parking space was good to have although very narrow.

The property got cold pretty quick The noise from the adjoining apartment was shocking! Loud music and shouting. Banging the fire exit door which made the apartment fire door rattle. Tried contacting the out of hours but only responded the next day. The twin bedroom was not a place you could sleep, so my husband took the mattresses through to the lounge area.

The apartment was ideally located, literally minutes from the Cathedral, handy Sainsburys on the corner for milk etc. The free parking was a massive bonus. The apartment was very clean and tidy, the Christmas tree was very seasonal. The bathroom not having a window was showing signs of a little mould nothing a bit of decorating couldn't put right but not enough that it couldn't be used. Would definitely book the apartment again.
