Great location and perfect base for my ultra marathon. The bath was a god send to clean my dog who ran the ultra with me, and the pillows and bed where super comfy.

"Beautiful location, but consideration needed for visiting dogs safety"

6.0

The location is beautiful with outlook on trees in the countryside. The cottage is ideal for a single person with seated area immediately outside, a great respite from the the busyness of life but also close to Llantrisant and retail park to pick up forgotten items.

The owner told me that one of her dogs, a corgi, would bark aggressively. This by itself is not an issue. Dogs are dogs, and having a miniature dachshund, I know that little dogs often have big barks, and it doesn't always mean potential harm is at hand. What I wasn't expecting was an array of different dogs that have full roam of the grounds, including directly in front of swallow cottage. 1 early evening, my dog and I were enjoying the end of the day, immediately outside the cottage on chairs provided. When 2 larger dogs began to run directly towards him, barking furiously. My little dog has been attacked previously because of his size, so I picked him up straight away and attempted to get into the cottage. It didn''t stop the dogs from jumping up at me to try to get to my dog. Thankfully, the owner called them off and came over, saying the dogs had just got back. I was polite, saying dogs will be dogs. I could feel Joop shaking, and I was too, and wanted space for us to calm down. It was not a nice thing to happen and completely unexpected, at a venue claiming to welcome dogs. Particularly when one's own dog is told to stay on a lead. I would suggest that the owners invest in some gates to stop this happening again and look at their safety protocols as part of an incident investigation and robust risk assessment. All visiting dogs should be protected from avoidable harm by resident dogs. If this was done, I would happily stay at the venue again as it was a beautiful location and the owners friendly. I especially loved the secret garden and quiet location overall. But currently, I would be worried about my little boy, which is a shame.

"It met our requirements"

9.0

Self Catering. Kitchen facilities were adequate. Very quiet, rural location. Relaxing feel. Good internet. Bed was very comfortable.

Complex rules on recycling with threats of a fine if we put things in the wrong bins, so we bagged up our waste and took it away with us.
