Alfama T1 Travel

This was my most disappointing experience with a Booking.Com rental

The apartment is not a one bedroom - it’s a studio with a small windowless chunk of it separated by a partition to serve as a bedroom. So called balcony is a’French’ Balcony, not large enough to seat on. The host uses it to store mops and the view is blocked by construction work.Tge anartment is dark annd stifling. address provided by the host doesn’t get recognized by Uber app. When we finally got their by regular taxi I spent a while trying to find the entrance - you cannot see it from the street and the host ‘forgot’ to indicate that it was in fact on top of a long and steep stone stairway. Once you enter, you need to walk up another 3 long and very narrow flights of stairs to reach the actual apartment. I was traveling with a child and 2 suitcases - it was simply horrendous. The next morning the host refused my request to let is store packed suitcases in the apartment for 2 extra hours and did not offer any alternative.

Nice location

We ordered for 4 people but that was not comfortable for this amount. Bathroom +toilet is next to a bedroom separated by only rolled doors, no window. Also scaffold stood bz the window at the living room which we were not announced by the owner.

Cute apartment in good location.

Lovely clean apartment in the heart of the Alfama area. The apartment was exactly as described.

Nothing we didn’t like.

It was very cute and comfortable. Very clean and well decorated. The location provided great access to Alfama. The restaurant downstairs was also very good. Nuno was easy to talk to.

Parking the car was more difficult. We didn’t know GNR stood for the national guard and our car was towed. Yikes! Park down the street in the 24h pay lot by the train station instead of out front.

A decent, value for money apartment.We liked the location. Pretty easy access to everything we wanted to visit on foot + close to the airport. When we were tired or in a hurry we could just call an Uber (since it was even cheaper for us 4 than to travel by public transport. )

Nuno was a perfect host. He responded very quickly with empathy. Very close to Santa Appolina station.

There are a lot of stairs. 39 stairs just to the building and then 2 1/2 flights of very narrow stairs to the apartment. If you are seniors like us, it is very difficult...especially if you have heart conditions. Tons of students from the University sitting around watching us struggle and not one of them offered to help. We also got pickpocketed 100 yards from the station and that's where Nuno's empathy comes in. Wonderful apartment otherwise. We would have enjoyed it more if not for the traumatic episode that we endured. Thank you Nuno!

Location in the old town.

The email giving the key code was sent on the day we flew. I had switched off my phone so we had to contact the landlord as we arrived at the property. Luckily he could give us the code.

Great location and communication with the owner. The apartment had all of the useful amaneties. The wi-fi connection was great 👍 Altough the apartment isn't big, it was spacious enough for 4 adults. It was a great stay 😀
