The Spot in Alfama

Margarita, our hostess, was one of the best Booking.com owners that we have ever experienced! She was excellent with the pre-arrival communication, stocking & cleanliness of the apartment and very kind and friendly. She gladly offered several excellent restaurant recommendations and sights to see. She left donuts at our door, the day we departed.The neighborhood was fantastic but hilly. Location was walkable to most major sights and a blast to explore. People were very friendly. We will return and highly recommend. The apartment is not truly air-conditioned, but we used a fan and water type cooler to comfortable effect. Thanks!

All very good! Much of the Neighborhood & apartment are Not easily handicapped accessable. Not a complaint, just informational.

The host was amazing. Put great effort into added extras and also gave many good suggestions for dining and sightseeing. There was comfortable seats and it was located in the hub of historic area.

Sadly, local festivities combined with an exceptional heat wave meant that we could not get good comfort for sleeping. So circumstances just worked out poorly but no fault of the apartment or the host. By the way, if driving and using GPS, do not set the apartment address because you'll end up in alleys. Set for parking location.

Location of this flat was fantastic right in the middle of Alfama. Margarida was a great host who met us at the door and left snacks, a beer and coffee pods for the next morning. We were given extensive recommendations on places to eat, drink & visit which was lovely as we were in Lisbon for a short time for a wedding so had limited time. She also allowed us to have access to the flat on check out day when our flight was severely delayed which was super useful and kind of her (Even bringing around cakes before we left!) Would highly recommend this apartment for a weekend stay in Lisbon

The Spot in Alfama is a small and compact one bedroom apartment on the 1st floor (no lift) overlooking St Miguel’s church piazza. The apartment is well set up for two people and although small has all the features for a comfortable stay. It is located in Lisbon’s historic and atmospheric district of Alfama which is a maze of passageways and small traffic free streets, close to the Fado Museum. Although in a normally bustling area, the apartment is sound proofed to reduce external noise and has two portable air coolers that help reduce the summer heat. The owner, Margarida, is a treasure! Communications with her prior to and during our stay were excellent and she went to extraordinary lengths with helpful tips, advice and recommendations to make our stay enjoyable. She met us on arrival, provided a welcoming basket of goodies, which was very thoughtful, and organised a ride share car to get us to the airport on time when we checked out. The Alfama is full of interest and character with many steps and narrow passageways, and provides a good contrast to other areas of the inner city that are more open and planned.

Beware taxi drivers who overcharge and don’t deliver you to the right place. This apartment is 500 metres and walkable from two metro stations and Santa Apolonia train station and 100metres from the Fado Museum.

The location was great. Close to all amenities. The apartment was very well equipped.

Margarida was amazing. Fantastic communication. So kind!. Provided many unexpected extras and great suggestions for visiting places like SintraApartment had all the amenities plus! Charming neighborhood, +++ restaurants nearby. Once you got your bearings, was fairly easy to get around ( we were an older couple without mobile data). Would highly recommend.

Location tricky to find, even for the cab driver, without mobile data. However Margarida was there and waiting for us in the Square, so all worked out. Liked everything else.

We had a most wonderful stay here in Lisbon. The location was perfect. Lots of restaurants, walking distance to sites in Alfama as well. Close to tram 28 which is a must. The apartment had everything one would need. Lors of extras when we arrived as well. Margarida made our stay very enjoyable. Lots of wonderful recommendations plus communication was fantastic. We are bringing back with us wonderful souvenirs from Lisbon. Thank you to Margarida

The host (Margarida) is the best host we ever met..She will help you with everything and always stand-by whenever you need her. No questions are too much for her. The location is just perfect and the apartment is very cosy, clean and in the middle of Alfama..JUST PERFECT! Ps..Thanx for the treat..X Jim

The owner Margarida was on site awaiting our arrival which is really appreciated. The location is exactly what we hoped for, in a historic part of Lisbon and in the shadow of the San Miguel church. Looking out the living room windows we could see the many narrow stone streets that crisscrossed around the area. Everything you want to see was in walking distance of the property from the ferry station used to visit the Christ Statue to the Tram 28 line to the Pantheon and the castle and much more. Lots of local, authentic Portuguese restaurants within a short walk as well as mini-markets for supplies.I can say NOTHING negative about this rental and Margarida did a tremendous job of looking after our needs, going above and beyond, surprising us with treats a couple of times!

Can’t say anything negative about the place. It suited our needs and we were comfortable in our surroundings.

Wonderful location in the historical center of Lisbon. Cozy and very comfortable apartment. The owner of the apartment - Margarida, surrounded us with care and attention, provided a lot of information about places of interest and small local restaurants what helped us fully feel the atmosphere of the city and enjoy the local Portuguese cuisine. She gave us the most delicious pasteis in the city. Kitchen in the apartment is fully equipped with all necessary stuff you need. There were some snacks, water, fruits for us as a compliment from the owner. Margarida was always available in case of any questions.
