Funchal Arcadas Apartment by MLV

A very central but quiet location. The flat was tastefully furnished, the balcony had a lovely view of the municipal park and they were see views on the rear terrace area.

Nothing to add, we had a great time. The flat was just a great place to stay, we felt at home.

Location was wonderful. we were able to walk to many things we did. The view from the verandah was exceptional…..overlooks a municipal park. Furnishings were comfortable and cozy. Lots of closet space and drawers. Marcia (hostess) was very amenable and friendly. she tried hard to address some issues we had!

Not a great introduction to kitchen appliances (very different from those in North America. Kitchen wasn’t stocked with the essentials (tea towels and utensils). Washing Machine was very old and dirty….no dryer. luckily, there is a laundry 2 minutes away and they were super! we did have a problem with the toilet and it took a week to get it corrected. Also lamp did not work and we asked to have bulb replaced but that didn’t happen.

Excellent location in the centre of funchal. The apartment had all the facilities you could possibly need for a very comfortable stay. Would highly recommend and will definitely be booking another stay soon.

we spent a week at the Arcadas Apartment in Funchal. it is centrally located from most attractions, within walking distance from the Monte cable car, marina, old town, and right next door to the famous Madeira wine lodge Blandy’s, and across from a little municipal garden. we enjoyed having daily breakfast and dinner in the balcony overlooking the park. The apartment is nicely appointed, tastefully decorated, and good size for a couple or a small family. The kitchen is for only light meal preparation, not normal or elaborate cooking. They provide most basic utensils and cutlery, full size stove, oven, and refrigerator as well as microwave oven. Clothes washer was a definite plus. we wish it was easier to use. Angelo Lopes, the rental agent was extremely responsive, chekin went smoothly even though it was a self check-in. there are a couple of negatives I must mention: slow internet, really hard bed, and tiny parking spot in the basement, right next to a big pillar. Having free included parking was a definite plus but one must not have a larger than midsize car to fit comfortably in the spot. our rental car got damaged while trying to park. Overall, a pleasant stay.
