TSUMUYA

This was a really unique experience during our stay in Japan. The girls felt like they were the two girls from neighbor Totoro at their house, nice bath, tatami, no shoes. Amazing village location, even the local city bus reminded them of the cat bus. I enjoyed the collection of arts books and the very nice reception

This is more of a comment. Moving around in Naoshima can be a bit of a challenge, the buses don’t come that often. TSUMUYA is located at the quietest corner (which for us is a plus, adds to the experience). Eating options and getting around can be a bit of a challenge. Keep that in mind, a rented bike will give you tons of flexibility

Location was amazing. Hosts went out of there way to make our trip fabulous. They recommended restaurants and drove us to our restaurant there and back one evening

Traditional beds were great but we were glad to find extra squabs to soften our sleep.

One of the highlights of our month long trip. The house is a couple of meters from the sea, in a beautiful hamlet. The traditional Japanese architecture with a few modern touches make this large house an amazing place to be. Our regret is spending one night only there. The owner is gentle and kind, and provided all kind of information and recommendations.

Lovely traditional Japanese home in a very quiet port village on Naoshima. Walking distance to Benesse Art museums. Really interesting collection of books on art and architecture. Kuni and Akki even picked us up from the ferry:) I would gladly come back here.

Kitchen could have a few basic supplies like tea, sugar, crackers, especially since there is no store nearby to stock up.

We had a typical Japanese house to ourselves entirely and the experience was great. The ofurô was great and the collection of books was phenomenal. The property owners were very accommodating and kind.

As the season was changing, it felt a bit cold in parts of the house, except the bedroom and dining room. The signage to the house could be improved. The entrance is actually in the back street.

Kuni-san and Akkie-san were incredible hosts! They went above and beyond to make our stay as smooth as possible, meeting us to pick up and drop off our luggage at the port when we arrived and left, and making a restaurant reservation for us in advance at their favourite spot. Could not recommend a stay at Tsumuya more!

The hosts collected us from the port, took us to the property and explained everything we needed to know about the property and the island. They were fantastic.

Loved the arty decor and art book collection. Close to galleries and great little family restaurant. Hosts very friendly and helpful
