Armory One-Bedroom Cottage

Built by convicted in 1823, one of the first cottages to be built in Tasmania.This original bridge cottage overlooks the historic Richmond Bridge, located in the village, walking distance from historic sites, cafes and shops. The cottage has a sitting room with a wood fire. Complimentary port and chocolates are provided as well as a bedroom with a queen-sized bed. The window in the bedroom faces the bridge. There is a fully equipped country style kitchen, a 2nd living/dining area, a sofa, flat-screen TV, DVD player, CD player and a laundry with a washing machine and a tumble dryer. The bathroom has a shower over a bath. There are lovely original floorboards in the sitting room, bedroom and kitchen as well as slate tiles in the 2nd living area with underfloor heating. French door lead out onto the garden and courtyard. Please note that guests receive complimentary port and chocolates upon arrival.

Beautiful cozy historic cottage in a great location, super close to the town centre and Richmond Bridge. The host JoAnne was friendly and helpful over the phone during the check-in process.

The house could really use a deep clean and dusting. I cleaned the bathroom fan myself whilst staying there, as I couldn’t handle looking up and seeing things caked with dust. Apart from that, the cottage is perfect and I was very happy with the stay!

It looked ok in the photos and the reviews were good. It was located in a lovely village.

The security was totally inadequate. Just an old fashioned key in a worn keyhole in French doors. No dead lock. Access was down a narrow passage around the back of the building. I didn’t feel safe and didn’t end up staying. The owner would not refund a single cent despite me having no way of knowing what the security was like. The place was also cold and musty with no heating in the bedroom.

Property was clean the view was beautiful we had all the facilities we needed except the TV did not have a remote so it was a bit awkward when wanting to watch a program and I don't like the skylight but other than that it's a beautiful position and it's a very quaint old-fashioned place that brought back memories to my husband and I because we stayed here when we were on our honeymoon for years ago

Did not have a TV remote and I'm not particularly fund of the skylight Left side of the bed is dropped down so it is lower than the right side which my husband was not very comfortable in so new mattress required other people have complained about it to go on way back written in the root reviews or in the autograph book so new mattress required

"Historic home needs updated furnishings"

Check in was easy. Location good. Nice thick towels.

A historic venue does not need to have historic furnishings in it - for the money charged we expected more in terms of comfortquality. Couch in TV room needs replacing ASAP as it has no comfort value at all (seat cushions have no springs and sink). Furnishings in general outdated.
