Ortigia Dreaming

We arrived 2 hours earlier than checking in time and were expecting to have to sit at a cafe for a couple of hours, but Rossana, the hostess, had told us to text her after landing and to let her know when we would arrive in Ortigia, which we did do. Rossana met us at the property 5 minutes later to let us in and give us the keys 2 hours early, which was ever so lovely! Rossana must be the nicest and most welcoming property owner I have ever been given to deal with: there is nothing she wouldn't do to please or help, starting with little videos and tips/advice a week before our holiday started. When we arrived, she had stacked the kitchen with breakfast items, such as coffee, tea, cereal and croissants, a bottle of wine, and even a little souvenir gift to take back home from Sicily! Whenever we texted for restaurant recommendations or questions about day trips, she answered within minutes and bent backwards to please us. She really knows how to make you feel welcome and is clearly keen to show off the best Sicily has to offer! The property itself is gorgeous, spacious, comfortable and is in a perfect location. The air conditioning worked perfectly, the kitchen was well-equipped with a dishwasher and a washing machine; the mattresses very comfortable; the bathrooms excellent. Next to the property was all we needed: a lovely little cafe at the corner where we had breakfast early morning and whose staff were ever so friendly; several restaurants on the Maestranza street, a mini supermarket, and, of course, the beach literally minutes away. Although very busy during the day, it was wonderful to be able to go for a quick swim early morning and late afternoon when very few people were there! Ortigia itself is very simply a little corner of paradise. The food was divine; the streets, especially at night time, were beautiful; the food market was wonderful; the architecture and the sea views breath taking. Our only regret was not to have been able to stay longer!

Nothing! Everything was PERFECT!

Excellent, superb location. Host was superb, daily contact and helpful for any information or assistance we required.

A small point, perhaps some floor mats at entrance and in bedroom.

Besides a beautiful location setting, the apartment offered old world charm leaving us immersed in Ortigia. Our hosts were like family. They communicated very well before hand to make us comfortable and exceptionally during our stay. They offered all types of solutions and recommendations. We never were without information or restaurant choices. Rosanna is a superb host with a very good reputation in town. We will book to that apartment when we return soon. Thank you so much for the great memories and treatment.

Even if there was something I didn’t like about this stay, Rossana would have made it right or better asap.

The location was excellent with a nice bar a few meters away. Very nice to have laundry. But the best part was our host Rossana. She couldn’t do enough for us. She was so helpful all the time including making a parking reservation which is essential in Ortigia. She also helped me with a problem which was most appreciated. It would be difficult to find a better host.

I believe the reviews are so good because no one wants to leave a poor review for such an attentive host. I read the great reviews and booked on a 9.7 average review but clients deserve to know what to expect at the apartment no matter how nice the host is! It’s just damp, smells of mold and the humidity makes the place feel like being in an underground cave!

1. Steep staircase leads to two bedrooms upstairs. 2. Walk thru one bedroom to get out of the other bedroom. 3. Wet foundations on the ground floor. 4. Dampness permeates the entire apartment and everything in it. I believe the reviews are so good because no one wants to leave a poor review for such an attentive host. The property was so convenient to everything you can walk to restaurants shops and a market is close by.

There were steps to get up to the 2 bedrooms

The house is exactly as the pictures! It is perfect for a family or a group! It is located in the heart of Ortigia and walking distance to everything. But the best part is the host, Rosanna. She is AMAZING! She goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is comfortable and fun. She helped us find free parking even if it is almost impossible to find parking in the island, she left a welcome breakfast for us so we dint have to worry about waking up early the next morning, she recommended restaurants and helped us make a reservation for Easter lunch… and the list goes on and on about all her attention to detail and “extra care” the Rosanna provided to me and my family during our stay. Highly recommend staying at Ortigia Dreaming! Thank you Rosanna for helping to make our vacation unforgettable!

I had to think hard to find something that I didn’t like about the property. The only thing that could be improved is that there is a washer, but clothes have to hung on the line and it takes about 1 day to fully dry clothes because of the humidity in the island. It is not a problem if you plan ahead. A dryer would be nice but they are not common in Italy.

Beautiful furnishings and decor, comfortable beds, very close to historic city center and restaurants. The hostess was very accommodating and friendly!

We loved everything about the property.

Absolutely wonderful place, everything beautifully and tastefully decorated, once of the prettiest flats we've stayed so far, The owner is super nice, checking daily whether we're OK and don't need any help. 100% recommend :-)

The street is one of the busier ones in Ortigia and once of the few with car traffic (no noise from outside though).

Rossana the hostess was super friendly and accommodating. Went out of her way to make our holiday unforgettable.
