"Beautiful apartment in a historic building"

9.0

Beautiful apartment right in the old town of Edinburgh. It was spotless, comfortable and quiet. We really enjoyed our stay at the Riddoch and would highly recommend it.

It's not possible to leave your bags after check-out (but early drop-off can be arranged). Small issues with the showerhead spraying sideways and the shower gel dispenser not working. We informed the property team after our stay as we only stayed for one night.

"Really enjoyed it. A nice change from a hotel. Loved the property."

Location was fab.

There was only 1 wine glass (which was chipped) and 1 drinking glass for 2 people.

"A fantastic apartment but you need to be fit to cope with the stairs."

9.0

Central location in Lawnmarket, only a short walk to the Castle and other attractions. Princes Street was only 20 minutes away on foot. The apartment was comfortable and well furnished with quality appliances.

The spiral stairs, which in fairness are mentioned in the property description (approx 52 of them) leading to the apartment, are very steep, and carrying a suitcase up needs some physical effort. Noise from the pub in the close nearby and also lots of noise from the apartment above ie doors being opened and closed plus you can hear footsteps clearly during the night.

Such character and very clean

The shower was just quite small but that’s being really picky!

"Super cute and charming place to stay."

The property itself was very cute.

The super tight spiral staircase. For two of us it was ok but if you have large suitcases it’s a pain.

"Very nice, would stay again."

7.0

I loved the historic building, the curved staircase didn’t bother us. Older travelers or people that are physically challenged might need to reconsider. Property was very convenient to all the old town sites in Edinburgh. Loved the pub and coffee shop that opened into the close. If you like unique properties, this place is for you

The bathroom shower was musty but overall clean. The towel bar was not turned on and chilly in bathroom. Overall, nothing that would deter us from recommending this place

Location was excellent, great value for money on the royal mile. The search to find the entrance is well described and is actually an interesting element of the stay.
