Lord Street Apartments By Happy Days

Regarding our recent stay in this apartment, My friends and I were extremely dissatisfied with the service. I received a message on WhatsApp the day before checking in into the apartment regarding a security deposit of £50 per person which had to be paid before entry into the apartment would be granted (there was 4 of us totaling £200). I checked their policy page on booking.com and could not find anything as such. They did mention that this information was on the “essential information tab” before booking. I believe information like this should have been explicitly communicated by email or text upon booking as this is essential information and many people may not have budgeted for this additional charge. Unknown to my friends and I, the apartment has no reception on site. When we arrived with our luggage around 23:00, I had to call again to find out how to check in. When I called, I spoke to a gentleman called Craig who was extremely rude and impatient with us at their reception which is a 5-6 minute walk from the property. This caused unnecessary stress for my friend who was heavily pregnant. Upon entering the property there was an extremely foul smell almost like a sewage leak lingering around the corridors and in the apartment. The only good thing about this apartment is the fact that it is located in the city center but Unfortunately I would not recommend this apartment for any other reason. My friends and I only stayed for 2 nights and checked out (losing out on our last night) because the smell was so bad.
