"A little peace of paradise set up in the hills of the Lake District"

10.0

The location was amazing. Just a 10 minute drive to wasdale head, and plenty of walking to be had in the area. The cottage overlooks the valley and although we weren’t able to see the view because of the low cloud during our stay, I can only imagine how spectacular it is. We went at Christmas and the small touches within the cottage like a Christmas tree and decorations made it even more special. I would definately go back in a heartbeat and would recommend to anyone who wants a peaceful break in the western lakes.

Couldn’t fault anything, the place was perfect for our stay.

"Would definitely stay again!"

9.0

Fabulous stay. Excellent location on the edge of the mountain with spectacular views. Cottage was great and had everything you could need. Literally about a mile away to the deepest lake, Wastwater, with amazing views of the mountains. Will definitely be back.

There was an issue with the shower but this was in the process of being rectified. Still able to have a shower so not much of a problem.

Amazing views, ideal location to go hiking up scarfel pike, comfortable and cosy and felt very homely. Very ideal place to stay with friends or family for a nice weekend away, would recommend and come again.

"Cosy cottage near some fantastic walks"

6.0

This was our second stay here. Perfect location for hiking and ticking off the southern and western fells. Pretty good value for money and dog friendly (with some rules). Kitchen is well equipped for self catering but also some decent pubs within 10-20 mins drive. We would particularly recommend the Bowerhouse Inn really tasty pub food at reasonable prices, if you don't mind the 20 mins drive to get there.

Unfortunately the shower broke so after a 7 hour hike on our first day we weren't able to shower after, which was a shame as I was cold all evening. We called the host and he did sort a plumber to come out the next day but unfortunately the shower could not be fixed during our stay. We had to cut our walk short the next day so we could get back in time to use an alternative shower which wasn't ideal but we appreciated that this was arranged for us (although this offer would have been nice the first night too). Apart from the shower no other complaints. Will likely stay again

"Lovely stay, beautiful views & great cottage, would book again, not the most thorough cleanliness but"

9.0

Very beautiful place to stay for views from the grounds & the cottage window , close to wast water, the cottage had lovely decoration/ornaments etc great owner very welcoming even Rocky the owners dog ☺️, beds very comfortable, loved the layout for families & the fact that it was dog friendly, horses were beautiful in the fields,

Places that can’t be seen were very dusty & hairs were present - in our case it was underneath the beds & the bottoms of the small tables- which was a bit of a downer for me & my 6 year old son as we are asthmatic & dust affects us, the dishwasher still had things in from previous guests, I’m sure the owner would have sorted these problems if mentioned though - also was told on booking that our dog could stay with no charge but afterwards received a message to say we owe a charge for dog & that dogs are not free of charge/they wouldn’t have said this- so be mindful & keep proof 😞 Other than those things I couldn’t fault anything else

It's worth staying if only for the view and peaceful location. Good size room very large comfortably bed. Excellent tv to relax with a movie after a day out exploring obviously when it's dark outside. Otherwise, just look at the view. Nothing compares to that. Excellent value for money. Given its location and beautiful surroundings, you get a little bit of heaven for a great price

There are a lot of rules, probably down to previous guests not respecting the property and its surroundings. You are made fully aware of these when you book, especially if you take a dog, so if you continue with your booking, then have the decency to follow them, not spoil it for others. However, there are signs up around the property, and again, in an information pack might just be me, but it did make me feel a little uncomfortable I understand the reason for them, but maybe don't need to have so many notices warning of fines etc There is no real hanging space, a small coat rail, but no other storage. It didn't bother us. We were only there a couple of nights and could lay our things on the spare bed. However, it might be a problem if there's more of you in the unit. Could do with better curtains for patio doors they are thin and don't really cover the space when closed. There aren't any cleaning products. Understand its self-catering and people don't want to spend their holiday cleaning, but given its location and outdoor surroundings, they could be handy. There is a dishwasher, but the only tablet was a loose one stuck to the inside of the under sink cupboard, so no use at all. The unit was rather a cold environment, not really cosy it had two large radiators in the room, but the heating is timed so you don't have full control plus one of the radiators didn't seem to work at all. There are contact details if you want to WhatsApp the host, but we don't like bothering people or spending our holiday time sorting out issues. There is a polite warning about the cost of their heating bills in the information pack this rather put me off asking for the heating to be put on for longer. We did not see any staff, not that it bothered us contact details were provided. Unfortunately, there were no horses on the property. The stables were empty the whole time we were there. Also, no Alpaca or Highland Cattle.
