Windsor Cottage on The Big "W" Ranch

The property was in a good location. Beautiful views! A bit too remote for our liking, as the closest shop is at least 20 mins away. It had everything you needed in the cottage though. Bed was comfortable. Large cottage.

Had an issue with the heating, it wasn’t on all the time and having a young baby this was a concern. Owner sorted out once I brought this up to him. However going forward, not sure why it isn’t on all the time anyway? Wasn’t made clear about the rules on dogs. We was rudely greeted by a comment about our dog (as he is a large dog) this needs to be made more clear on the listing that large dogs are not welcome. This wasn’t ideal when we travelled 6 hours to stay here and we wouldn’t if booked this if we knew our dog wasn’t welcome. The kettle was broken, had to click on a few times for it to work. Bathroom was dirty. Towels were hard.

Advertises as pet friendly then sent us a £150 cleaning bill for dog hairs on our return home. Wouldn't bother going if you ve got a dog, it isn't pet friendly at all.

Comfortable and cosy, well-equipped kitchen area, comfortable big bed, fabulous view.

We recently stayed in the Windsor Cottage for three nights - this was when West Cumbria and South Lakes received very heavy snowfall. On arrival, we were amazed both by the views & how spacious & comfortable the cottage was. The cottage had everything you would need for a short break & both the large sofa & super king bed were extremely comfortable. After an initial problem with the heating, this was soon remedied by a few WhatsApp messages with David the owner. We were pleased that we were allowed into the indoor stables for a look round & a quick Hola to the Spanish mares & a Hi to the biggest Irish horse we’ve ever seen!! The staff we came into contact with during our stay were extremely friendly & helpful. We would recommend the cottages to friends & family & we hope to return sometime next year.

Excellent location, the view is absolutely stunning (watching the sunrise with a cup of coffee was a great start to the day) and the property itself is cosy, clean and comfortable and has everything you need.

Love staying here. Second stay this year. Comfortable ,clean, and the best host.Love the location. It's great to wind down and have peace and quiet with a wonderful view.

We arrived in the dark. If you follow the directions the host gives you, you will not have any issues getting there. We lost connection at one point and the sat nav would not work. PRINT, SCREAN SHOT DIRECTION OR TAKE A MAP. We had to find a pub to get back online. Winsor's cottage was a bed for the night as we were up early for a climb to Scarfell Pick. its is about 18 min drive to the car park. The lodge was roomy, clean, and well-equipped. White comfy bedding, a clean, dust-free lodge, plenty of white towels, hand soap, and shower gel are available along with tea and coffee. The kitchen is very well equipped and has all you would need for a long stay. Hearing that you can control. Free WIFI and Amazon Prime on the 50-inch tv. This place is a gem and we would 100% stay again.

Beautiful location, friendly and efficient owners. EV charging and fantastic facilities. Very clean & comfortable. We'll be staying again!
