Kotor old town Palace Bucha

What a wonderful place in a super location! It was large, well-appointed, very clean, and of course the terrace with a view of the bay cannot be beat. We stayed for 3 nights and would absolutely return. Also, David's directions to the apartment and how to get in (which included photos) were perfect. Thank you!

I like that it is located in the old town. Very accessible to restaurants. The apartment has a nice view of Kotor bay and kept us really comfortable during our stay.

We are a family of three and booked ‘the loft’, on the third floor of ‘Kotor Old Town Bucha Palace’. Kotor is a beautiful city, the location of the apartment is wonderful. No noise, nice restaurants, cosy bars and a wonderful view from the rooftop windows. The kitchen is well equipped. For this cause, the apartment is well recommended.

During the booking procedure we were informed that someone would personally meet us at the check-in. Eventually we checked-in ourselves. However, check-in went smoothly and the owner was always easy to reach out to. He responded our messages quickly, and advised us some nice restaurants during our stay. Multiple times he checked in and wondered if we were having a good time. Unfortunately we never had the opportunity to meet the owner. One day after the check-in we were requested to check in at the Office of Tourism and pay the required tourism taxes. (This is obligated for all toursists staying in Kotor). The morning of the check-out we met a representative of the owner at our apartment and were asked to pay the stay in cash (as agreed during the booking). This person didn’t speak English. We were unable to communicate with him, we used hand signs. The receipt of the booking mentioned a Toursim Taxes, of which we were convinced we paid it earlier at the Office of Tourism. It felt uncertain, uncomfortable and we were in no condition to ask any questions. The written communication that we later received by the owner are rude and unacceptable. Unfortunately by arrival the apartment was not prepared for three people. One double bed was set up and a sofa-bed was available, but needed to be set up. There were not enough sitting facilities for three to eat at the table. There were not enough towels available in the apartment (4 towels for 3 people). The owner was very communicative and stayed in touch. There are leakages, coming from the kitchen and bathroom window (only by heavy rain). The kitchen utilities weren’t clean. There was no kitchen towel available. Unfortunaltely our stay at The Loft apartment wasn’t a great experience.

Very comfortable apartment with lovely outlook right inside the old town. Very convenient to everything. Owner is very good communicator and very helpful. Kitchenette has all utilities and washing machine was a bonus.

Parking arrangement was a little tricky but this is always the case when staying inside old walled cities. 4 sets of stairs up to unit was difficult after a long day but this was explained beforehand.

Location right in old town was very handy, our room (top loft) was nice, we had a little window at the top to look out with views of the water so that was good. We could also see from the kitchen and the bed via a loft window the castle and that was nice. Bed was comfortable. Having a washing machine was also extremely helpful. Never met the host but they offered some suggestions of food options while there via whatsapp which was nice.

Often the case (not just this hotel on fairness) the photos had us thinking there was more to it, in this case an outside "Alfresco" area (maybe communal) but it wasn't our room, we were in a Loft (it was still a nice view just via a small windows to see it). A big challenge was that payment had to be done in cash, we have had a lot of trouble with atms in Europe, far to many machines limit your transactions and all seem to charge a minimum €5 per transaction (more in tourist areas, cash is becoming a burden to access in Europe), we had to do 4 x transactions so there was an additional €22 Euro + transactions + exchange costs just to access our cash to pay for the stay which also left us without cash for smaller things. Odd when you can pay restaurant's and shops with card. If you bring a car it's €20 per day for parking (€15 per day for longer), that was a surprise
