Quinta do Bom Sucesso

We were received so sweetly. We had flown from Tallinn to Funchal on three planes and were very tired. A laid table and food for the next day awaited us. We were just allowed to be. We are grateful 🐞

Our very welcoming hosts had left a selection of delicious wines, beers, fruit and other goodies for us to enjoy, as well as an amazing home-made passion fruit pudding and some eggs from their own chickens. The Quinta is situated in a series of lovely vegetable and flower gardens, and we were invited to take any veggies we wanted from them (yum!). Our apartment was quite high up and secluded, so we had stunning views down to the distant harbour and across the surrounding hillside, especially at sunset. There were several bus stops nearby so we had plenty of transport into the town centre as well as to the airport and surrounding areas (including Santana, which we visited by a service bus taking a very scenic route). This was the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in (and we have travelled extensively over many years).

Great hosts, we enjoyed the local products!Appartement in beautiful classic house with a great garden. Fully equipped kitchen. Private roof terrace with nice view. Parking space for rental car. Bus stop to Funchal city centre in front of the door (5 minutes bus ride). 2 minutes walk from supermarket and bakery! Good price/quality. Highly recommended, if we come again to Madeira I will try to book the same.

No showstoppers at all for us, but good to know if this is important for you: the house is next to a bigger road that creates some noise. With closed windows not a problem at all. If you use the parking space inside, you need someone to check for traffic to drive out because it is in the middle of a curve.

I recently stayed at this amazing villa, and let me tell you, it was an absolute gem! First off, Edgar, Abel and Henrique were beyond fantastic – so helpful, hospitable, and just genuinely kind people. They really went out of their way to make sure my stay was top-notch. And don't even get me started on the garden – it was like something out of a fairytale. So lush, so well-maintained, I could spend hours just wandering around and admiring the greenery and spectacular views! Plus, the location was super convenient. You've got markets, a pharmacy, and a cafeteria all within walking distance. And if you need to head into the city center, there's a bus stop nearby – the hill down is a bit steep. But what really stood out to me was the love and care the owners put into this place. You can just tell that they're passionate about making sure their guests have the best experience possible. Trust me, if you're looking for a cozy, welcoming place to stay, this is it. 10/10, would stay again in a heartbeat!

One tiny thing to note is that the bathroom could use a little bit of refurbishment. It's perfectly functional but it could benefit from a little renovation to bring it up to the same level of awesomeness as the rest of the place.

Location, staff, oasis

Wow, what a garden Eden! The quinta is so beautiful and the garden with pool is paradise. The apartment was also just perfect, bright, cozy and equipped with everything you could think of including Madeira travel guides, books and even a bath tub for our baby. The hosts were also really nice and communication was really easy.

I can't think of anything that was missing. 100% recommended.

The flat was spacious and comfortable with a great view and lively garden. The welcome gifts were amazing.

Road was just outside. The plus side of this were the many buses nearby.

The host came to meet us. He prepared food for dinner. More than the normal standard. 10+/10
