Madeira Gems Apartments

Our apartment was super easy to find, very well located, and exceptionally clean and quiet. We were able to walk to everything, the apartment had everything we needed, and we would definitely stay here again.

I honestly can't think of anything that we would change.

Loved that it was apartment style. Allowed us to reset mid euro trip and relax. Great location, Cesar was so friendly and helpful. Super clean, spacious and great new appliances.

There is no parking. And Only two unloading/ loading spots to unload your bags. So if you rent a car, you have park In a public structure about 10 min away, off property, 4.5€/day. ADVICE: you really don’t need a car- tons of bookings/ excursions that you can hire for great prices to do all the touristy things. Rent a car if you’re going camping in the mountains or something for safety purposes. Lastly, mattress was uncomfortable. Recommend getting a simple mattress topper and all will be well.

Location is ideal: however not while the building directly next door is being demolished / constructed

The building next door is being demolished- very very noisy with heavy demolition machinery on site loading materials into huge steel tipper lorries

The bed was very low & hard. Unfortunately the building next door is under construction and drilling started at 8.30am through to 6pm no fault of Madeira gems, however it would have been nice to have had prior warning

We enjoyed staying at the Madeira Gems apartment. The location was perfect; close to the main sights e.g. it took us about 12 min walk to the cable car to get up to the Monte. Around the corner was the shopping mall and its supermarket and for dinner we went to India Gate (twice) and Americano (the name is a bit weird as we had amazing food which was in no way American). Luiz and Cesar from reception were so friendly and welcoming that we immediately felt at home. Luiz went out to the sidewalk to find us after we had some difficulty to find the entrance of the hotel. Please note to enter “Hotel Madeira” into your Google map search. You can park in front of the hotel and check in. Parking is a right turn (one way road) away. We had the apartment on the top floor which was very quiet especially during the night. There was the Flowerfestival going on near by with daily nightly musical performances and it was a nice background entertainment while sitting on the terrace. The entertainment ended 22.30/23-ish and the windows cancelled out all noise once closed. The bedroom faced the small alley in the back so noise during sleeping time was never an issue. I particularly liked the terrace. The mattress was a bit firm for my taste but my husband liked it and we both slept very well. We would book here again without hesitation.

There is construction going on at the right side of the apartment but it didn’t bother us much. They start at 8am-ish. By that time we already went for breakfast. Construction crew took a long lunch. They continued until 17/17.30 o’clock. I have to say we were really worried about the noise but at the end it was not so bad. I guess it depends what kind of work they are doing. The location and the beautiful designed interior of the apartment and the friendly and welcoming staff made up for it.

Conveniently located by beautiful garden, parking and mall with grocery. Within walking distance of old town, port, water front shops/ restaurants. We were greeted in the apartment with a local treat and wine. Overnight parking at the mall was inexpensive 5-15 euros over night depending on when you moved your car- however you can’t get out of the garage until 7 am.

There is heavy construction going on next door and very loud between 12-6 pm. This appears to be going on for some time and there was no mention of this on the rental site. The front desk gentleman was rude to us on several occasions. The bed was hard.

Location is excellent with nice cafes and restaurants very close. Apartment is beautifully designed and excellent facilities. The staff in the Hotel Madeira (which manages the apartment) were very helpful.

We were not told about construction works adjacent to the property which has clearly been going on for months. The noise and vibration inside the apartment was unbearable between 08:15 and 18:00 Monday to Friday so we had to go out and no lazy mornings! The manager offered us a few options one of which was accepted. It tainted what would have been a great holiday.

Very well and modern equipped, large apartment with nice terrace and city park view.

Service: we had booked parking place in advance but we had to ask for it again upon arrival; Location: every working day from around 8:00 a.m. demolition work began using a pneumatic hammer - it was impossible to hold a conversation in the luxury apartment, let alone rest and relax; Availability of services: the description of the facility suggests a rooftop swimming pool - in fact, the swimming pool is available in a different building (in the hotel, approx. 200 m next door); Breakfast: available in a hotel nearby - but poor quality (poor selection of dishes, terrible coffee).
