Madeira Gems Apartments

Great location, elevator to the room. Clean and spacious, balcony overlooking park.

The location is excellent. Right in Funchal and close to many restaurants, the beach, etc. A great perk that I didn't realize was included was access to the amenities of the hotel next door (including a pool).

Unfortunately, there was extremely loud construction happening directly next door which went on for several hours daily which was so loud it would shake the walls- it was unbearable to stay in the apartment during these hours. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, they stated that they were not aware of this... Staff stated they were unable to move my stay to a different apartment, which I can understand couldn't be done on such short notice. However, no other resolution was made except for stating that it likely will "only" be occurring from 8am-6pm, and likely won't occur over the weekend (my stay was only over week days), which was obviously less than ideal. Thankfully, I was out during most of the days, however, for anyone with young children or anyone looking to sleep in past 8am, I would hesitate to recommend these apartments. I was really looking forward to my stay here but was quite disappointed.

Perfect central location but still quiet inside so good place to rest. Everything very clean and tidy, spacious appartment. One of the best places we've stayed.

Old building so you can hear people walking above you. But not disturbing.

Great location in the heart of the city with easy level walks to shops, restaurants, cafes and the promenade and seafront. Nice bistro below apartments. Rooftop terrace, bar and pool worth visiting in the hotel. Problem with power one day fixed within minutes. High spec electrics and security. Well equipped and comfortable apartment. Would happily book again. Very local restaurants (1811 and Combatentes) highly recommended.

Occasional noise from outside which is to be expected in such a central location.

Beautifully spacious and light with a well equipped kitchen. Comfy big beds. Big bathroom plus extra washroom.

Bit hard to navigate to the back of the hotel where we parked with the one way systems and tiny roads

The location and the gorgeous view over the park from the large balcony. The managing hotel at the Madeira Gems hotel were very helpful and we could use their facilities, including a rooftop swimming pool. Luis Vieira on reception was particularly welcoming and always had a lovely smile.
