Merrythought Cottage - entire 2 bed, 2 bath cottage in the heart of Rye citadel

The location was excellent being in the centre of Rye, next to the church. Everything has been thought of making this a home from home. We were met by an incredible welcome basket, which was more like a hamper and everything had been thought of. A wonderful stay with exceptional hosts.

We loved our stay in this beautiful cottage. You are in the heart of Rye so with small children it's nice to be able to pop back at any time if needed. There was also a box with toys which our children loved. We have previously stayed at two different places in Rye and this is definitely the best one by far!

There's nothing not to like!

The location was amazing, right in the centre of things and yet peaceful. The welcome basket was generous and unexpected and the facilities were of the highest quality. It was perfect for two couples.

Our only slight issue was that, for us, the bed in the upstairs bedroom was too soft.

Excellent kitchen, which was well equipped. Layout suited us. Position in Rye couldn't have been better. Very generous and unexpected provision of groceries and treats. Much enjoyed watching a white pigeon sitting on her nest continually, opposite the sitting room window.

Occasionally loud chatter drifted up from the tourists outside but it was perfectly quiet in the evenings and at night. The loud chiming of the hours, and the quarter hours, a stone's throw away, might disturb some people (but we were OK and found it atmospheric and charming).

We highly recommend this lovely little historic cottage and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect for exploring Rye by foot. The cottage was extremely comfortable, very well equipped with lots of little extra touches such as free toiletries. The welcome pack was superb and greatly appreciated. The cottage was immaculate, nicely decorated and surprisingly spacious. The hosts provided a wealth of local information and seem to have thought of everything. We will be telling our friends about this little gem! Thank you so much!

Some people might find the church bell annoying, especially at night
