Gillygate Boutique Apartment- Stunning City Centre 1 Bedroom Apartment

Location to centre, ease of parking and check in, layout of apartment, security of apartment, homeliness and comfort decor, large bedroom. Two bedrooms was ideal especially with 4 adults (two couples) staying so meant privacy and heating was very good. Clear instructions for guidance on property.

Pull out bed was the most uncomfortable bed even with 3 layers of thick blankets. The noise from the attached house upstairs (running round and chairs moving) alongside the busy road outside made it hard to sleep or relax. Very small bathroom sinks. Slow WiFi and no signal for phones.

It was clean, tidy and spacious.

A little chilly and the bedroom had a damp smell (mainly found on the cushions used to adorn the bed)

Location was perfect. Decor was very modern and had everything we needed.

The showers were abit on the dirty side and there were stains on the sofa.

The apartment is in a great location, making it easy to get around York, and it was a good size for the three of us. The main bedroom was comfortable, and the TV and Wi-Fi (when working) were useful additions.

Unfortunately, the stay came with several issues. The suggested car park is very expensive—£5 overnight but £4 per hour during the day—meaning parking from Friday night to Sunday morning would have cost over £70. The listing refers to a second bathroom, but although there was a door in the bedroom, it was locked or so tightly jammed it could not be opened. The actual downstairs toilet/shower under the stairs does not match the photos so there must be another bathroom somewhere? There is a clear mould problem that has been painted over in the under-stairs toilet and the overpowering air freshener seems to be masking the smell- it is very overpowering! The Wi-Fi and TV repeatedly cut out, and although we contacted and followed their instructions to reset everything several times (including unplugging for 10 mins), the problem continued. Previous reviews suggest this is an ongoing issue. The kitchen cupboard door is hanging off, the sofa bed is uncomfortable, and the bedroom blind is broken.
