19 High Petergate - Next to York Minster

The location couldn't be better, only about 5 minutes walk to the shambles (if that!). Comfy bed, smart TV for easily casting your own shows. Nice and clean space with good kitchen area for saving money on meals, the minster view was amazing and it was great sitting in the window upstairs listening to the bells. The kitchen was equipped with all we needed for our stay including milk, tea and coffee with some seasonings and oil etc for cooking.

The heating wasn't great and it was very cold at night and the shower had an issue - but the hosts sent a plumber to sort the shower out when we made them aware of the issue. The hosts were helpful in resolving the shower problem which showed us that they are good hosts that care about the stay. For the heating - to be fair it is a (roughly) 17th century listed building so you can't expect the modernities you would have in a double glazed hotel The only thing that would've made us feel more comfortable (aside from some warmth) would be a proper lock on the door. It was a smart lock with a code entry which didnt feel very secure overnight as there wasnt an option to double lock the door or a chain etc

Central location, close to historical sites, museums and amenities. Good information pack, welcome pack and property was warm and available for our arrival. The accommodation was clean, well maintained and very comfortable.

The only downside for us was the low beam/doorway to the bathroom as we are both tall and had to remember to duck!!

Proximity to the Minster

Main room was very dark due to location and style of the property and window. I feel that much brighter lighting could have been used in this area to really brighten it up. Not a fan of the bathroom light pull switch which was made of material and therefore not particularly hygienic?

Really nice place to stay very near the cathedral, lots of good pubs and places to eat nearby, lots of local history, good shops would definitely stay again

the only thing I would mention is the bathroom is downstairs and watch your head as you go in to the bathroom!

The property is beautiful, extremely comfortable and I highly recommend staying here. The location could not be beat with York Minster a stone's throw away and everything within easy walking distance. The bedroom was my favourite part of the apartment and I spent the majority of my time there, just going downstairs to access the bathroom and kitchen. The bed was really comfortable, and the storage was great - I especially appreciated the hanging storage. The smart tv was a nice bonus. As there are few electrical outlets, another extension cord that could plug in the other bedside lamp would be great! I loved the cupboard kitchen and really appreciated the tea, milk and biscuits that were available when I arrived so I did not have to rush out immediately to buy groceries. The shower was excellent and had very good water pressure. The management company provided easy access to information with a welcome binder and the entry code was easy to use. It would be helpful to have instructions for the microwave because there are many functions I was not familiar with such as the roasting feature (which I somewhat figured out).

This is more feedback than what I didn't like: The windows did not open at all, which I understand from a safety and security perspective, however this was a big negative to me. There were fans, which were very helpful for the heat, but I really wish I had some fresh air and was able to hear the beautiful outside sounds for which I specifically come to York to enjoy -- the doves and the church bells! I yearned to open the window on the bedroom floor so I could gaze upon the minster over my morning coffee and feel a soft breeze. I hope there is something the management company can do to give access to fresh air as it is the ONLY reason I would not stay here again. Perhaps the bedroom window could be opened but not the ground floor window? The restaurant below has live music, which I was aware of and was not bothered by, but if you are looking for a quieter place, then this would not be great for you. I wasn't sure what to do with my recycling because I didn't see any bins, so I left the recycling in the kitchen when I left and hopefully that was ok! It would be good to have a bin that listed what was recyclable because different cities have different recycling rules, or just a list with a bag to place those items in.
