River city apartments

This was a great solution for a stay of a few nights - usually we might go for a budget hotel but this was much better. Well-fitted out apartment, comfortable, quiet and spacious. Clear entry instructions and everything worked smoothly. Not far from both supermarkets and cafes - so, easy to mix self-catering and eating out. Very convenient for the excellent bus system in Kaunas but also was short walking distance to some visitor attractions anyway. If we visit again, this would be the first place we check for availability!

Possibly some of the shelves containing the kitchen equipment/crockery may be a bit too high for some people to easily reach - didn't bother me as I'm really tall!

Overall, our stay was enjoyable and the apartment offered everything we required during our stay. Checking in was easy and although our code did not work, the company quickly sent another. The entry system consists of 3 doors (a communal entrance, an apartment communal entrance and the apartment). This was easy to navigate and quite liked the Yale system. The apartment has a self-contained kitchen, small bathroom with shower and lots of storage. They even have an iron and iron board and provisions for hanging wet washing. Towels and toiletries (shampoo & conditioner) is provided and a hair dryer as well. I would recommend the owners getting a toaster as this was the only thing missed. There are ample bedding and extra pillows underneath the bed. The bed was very comfortable with lovely linen and the bed a very good size. The sofa couch has clearly been sat on for ages as it dips to the side and the owner may consider upgrading. We didnt use the sofabed so cant comment on this but could see an additional mattress topper, which is clearly well thought of. The property also have underfloor heating. We would have liked to have access to the aircon due to not being able to always have the windows open because of the music coming from outside. The apartments have a shared washer and dryer that was easy to figure out and seemed relatively clean. You have to obviously bring your own detergent. We saw the cleaners and they were friendly and hospitable. The apartment section was always clean and smelt really nice although when you leave the floor into the building's communal staircase and entryway, the impression deteriorates although we appreciate this may be out of the owner's control. I communicated regularly with the company managing communication and they were always speedy with responses and sorting out any issues. Payment is easy as well as booking other services.

The negatives: The exterior of the apartment and the entrance way appears very rough and can be off putting. However, as soon as you enter the communal foor for the apartments, it seems like you are in a completely different building! Loo roll is provided but would be nice to provide enough for the duration of the stay. However, it was cheap to just buy a pack from the local store. It is also unfortunate that cleaning is an additional €25 and the same price for early check-in and check out. This could obviously push the price up and people may prefer to stay elsewhere. The biggest negative was the constant music from a nearby neighbour/pub/restaurant. The music starts around midday and does not stop until late evening. You can close the windows to minimise this which is fine during the winter but may be massively bothersome in the summer. We slept with earplugs so cant comment on other noises but the music was very tiring. Would we stay again? Yes, we would, as the things in the property's control have been overall positive.

Was fantastic

You cannot check in until 3pm on the dot as the lock and pins are on a timer unlike most other apartments in Lithuania. You have to pay extra to have early access.

The location is perfect. All the shops, cafes, restaurants, theatres etc are at the back of the apartment block. The apartment is spotless clean, modern, finished to a high standard,, well insulated and the bed was very comfortable. It's great value for money. I can't fault it. The management staff are very responsive and helpful. I recommended it to all my friends and will definitely be back myself.

Road noise - I'm a light sleeper.

The room was spotlessly clean, impressed with the kitchen set up. Perfect location

I liked everything but if I could just suggest an additional mirror in the room would be an advantage for helping with make up
